We stayed here en route to Amsterdam via Harwich port, which is a 30 minute drive away. It was a little difficult to find and not where the TomTom told us it should be!!! I would suggest they get an illuminated sign to help. It's actually right next to the police station (which is where we initially tried to book in.....almost!!!).
The car park is free with about 30 spaces, most of which were free when we arrived.
It's certainly the smallest reception area for a Travelodge I have encountered in my years of traveling, all it really has in it is a vending machine. The receptionist was extremely friendly and very efficient. We had a couple of questions about the surrounding area and she was very helpful in dealing with our enquiries.
The family room (for 3 or 2 with lots of luggage or who like space!!!) cost £19 but I have also seen it available for £12. An absolute bargain whichever case.
The room was typical Travelodge style, basic but extremely clean. If I was going to be picky I could say that a lick of paint wouldn't do it any harm as there were marks on the wall but I didn't stay there to gaze at the walls! Just needed a bed for the night.
We did have some road noise as our room (3) was at the side of the duel carriageway, but it didn't stop us from enjoying a good night sleep on the very comfy bed.
You could eat at the Little Chef next door but I would highly recommend you try 'Aqua Eight' which is an Asian fusion restaurant approximately a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Check out the reviews. My husband and I went and we actually thought it was one of our best ever dining experiences.
Room Tip: Room 3 has road noise from adjacent A road.
