“Really good Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

person found this review helpful

Very good value as I managed to get £65 rate and managed to get an upgrade. Nice spacious room with Big flat screen TV, which worked well. Nice hot shower. Welcomed at reception with a glass of wine in the evening, then offered a cup of coffee on the way out in the morning - nice touches and appreciated. Food a little on the expensive side at £12.50 for a burger & chips but no complaints. Recommended.

“Sleep don't eat”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The standard Holiday Inn set up so you know what you are getting and the room quality is always okay. The hotel is some distance from the rail station and a taxi from the station will cost about £8. As there appeared to be little choice close by we decided to eat in. Food was very ordinary although I do have to say the bar man was helpful and attentive. Breakfast was poor and not enjoyed because it was poorly cooked and presented.

“A hotel for business people”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Not sure why this hotel is so far out of town, as it is not close to any big business parks, although you are right on the A14, which is useful. This hotel is for business people, a conference was on when we stayed [one night], and everything there was organised around this. The rooms are fine, quite spacious, and we had a decent room rate without booking months in advance. I would be happy to stay there again.

Breakfast was very expensive though, at £13.95 each. Once again, wireless internet was over-priced at £9.95, it is time hotels stopped charging for this service.

“OK hotel but no upgrades or beautician”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

This hotel in nothing special but clean, and this may be picky but I am a business traveller and spend a lot of nights in Holiday Inn's - this is the only one that never upgrades my room. It is the normal policy of HI to upgrade, on my last visit they told me the restaurant was not open because it was quiet - but when I asked if my room had been upgraded they told me in the same sentence they had no rooms left ????
It also advertises a beautician for things like massages or pedicure - what they dont tell you is only on a Wednesday night and a Friday night. Not what I would expect.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to post a response following your recent stay at the Holiday Inn Ipswich.

We always try to upgrade guests wherever possible, however on some occasions all our Executive Rooms are already taken, even though the hotel might be quiet. I would also apologise that the beautician was unavailable during your stay.

I do trust you will not be deterred from returning to our hotel and I look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future.

Yours faithfully
