Staff friendly and good location. good spot to stay over for a night

Get what you pay for and this Holiday Inn is one of the more dated properties in the portfolio. Fine for a one night stay but you don;t get any luxurious feel. Then again, I paid £65 a night so xcellent value.

Nice, slick reception service and a faultless stay throughout.

As a platinum Priority Club member, I was upgraded to an executive room. The usual bug bear is that of the bed head wall needing a thorough dusting. The fact that it's painted orange and lit by down lighters gives the game away and freaks asthmatics such as myself.

Food in the restaurant is average and prices suggesting a better standard. I was given a voucher for free dessert and coffee which made up for it. My curry and rice arrived in the blink of an eye - those commercial microwaves are mighty powerful!! My main gripe is the total lack of atmosphere in the dining room. A soulless collection of tables and chair with (when I was there) 5 lone diners. At one point there were more staff than guests. Note to manager: nothing worse than having dinner setting taken away and breakfast set up when only just gone 8am. Makes me feel unwelcome.

But excellent prices and would use again.

£90 for a small double for one night on business . Hotel layout involves walks down long corridors. Walls etc showing signs of wear. Room was clean and comfortable. Huge TV but small double bed (4ft6"). Once you limbo round the bathroom door, it had everything. As others comment - ironing board but no iron - a fridge for private use. Duvet had a tear in it (see photo) so attention to detail missing.

This hotel has all the potential to be better and reading other reviews has already improved. If you need a bed on business and don't mind pub grub then this is the place. Very handy for the main roads. The pool looked popular. The staff were friendly and the breakfast staff in particular quite jolly.
