“basic but perfectly clean”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

We stayed here for a night in Feb , suprisingly busy for such an early part of the season ,seems the place to stay if you are on a golfing holiday as they have drying rooms and all that jazz for golfers as well as course maps etc. ( I dont golf!)
The room itself was basic but lovely and clean and the bed was really comfy , new mattresses obviously ! Tea and coffee making facilities were available in the room along side a little TV that nowadays is probably quite unacceptable for a hotel , push buttons and an iffy signal but if you have a sense of humour its worth a giggle! If you want glamour this isnt it but if your after somewhere on the front where you can get a good night sleep and a hearty breakfast then give it a whirl . We payed £50 for 2 with room and breakfast which was about on the mark really . There is parking for around 25 cars comfortably and probably more after that around the back of the hotel but this can be a bit of a tight space to get through when busy as cars park on both sides and cars have to squeeze down the middle . There is a bar but cant comment as we didnt use it . Staff very friendly and helpful . Lovely views of the great orme and pier , a lovely place to watch the sunset over the bay from the front of the hotel .

Room Tip: Probably worth a tenner for a sea view rather than a view of the carpark!

“Does the job!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Stayed here the night before staying a few nights at a much more expensive hotel so would wouldn't be fair to compare them, but anyway.
The Esplenade is right on the sea front so the sea view is a must for the extra £10 ish. Fab breakfast, again in a sea view set up. Very friendly staff (bar and reception). Reception and bar areas are very nice, the rooms are average (very comfy bed though) and yes a flat screen TV would be a big bonus but understand the difficulties these hotels must have balancing the books for the price they charge. One big bonus is the hotels free car park, if you don't know- parking can be a bit of a nightmare and expensive in Llandudno.
One silly gripe that can be sorted in 1 hour at the cost of one roll of wallpaper. The lifts wooden wall which could be covered in a dark patterned paper to cover the years of golf party graffiti and also discourage more of it- it's ok for a group of men to ponder over such etchings but not the wifey thing! Come on it's easily fixed so why leave it? It's a bad impression you get when going up to your room for the first time and it's not the best! Replacing 100 TVs would be VERY expensive, replacing 1 lift wall in paper, vinyl or ANYTHING at all, would cost next to nothing.

Room Tip: Sea view worth the extra!

“Far better hotels to stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

My wife and i stayed for 3 nights at the Esplanade, and would not recommend it.The bar lounge and dining room on the ground floor, are quite tidy. The bedrooms are not very clean, infact i do not think the room was cleaned during our stay.We had a old fashioned small television that only had 5 or 6 channels. The breakfast was ready made for you to help yourself,so it had beenhanging around for a while.

“For the price not bad...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2012

This hotel needs some attention to detail.....the inside of the elevator needs a good scrub and painting...I have stayed here before and it wasnt so bad...I liked the buffet brekky but on this occasion it was a served brekky which was nice...Our room was warm and the shower was very good......The bar was closed (slow season) but I could get a drink if I asked the lady receptionist...For eats try the Wetherspoons around the corner and you will not be disappointed....This hotel is central and when it is busy -it has a cosier feeling...all in all if on a budget..you cant beat this hotel....

me and my boyfriend 20, have just got back from a weekend away in llandudno, being young and jsut wanting this hotel as a base to go out from, we wermt expecting much. arrived atthe hotel 2 hours early before check in, but we were alowed our room early, hotel saff were very friendly and help ful, bar was open even though it was low season, the cooked brekafast had a lot to choose from and it was help your self but it did at half 9 and was slighty cold, our room and bathroom were clean. above our bed was some kind off old radio which was right aboce the head board which meant hitting your head on it. the room next door we could everything and i mean EVERYTHING that was happeneing in there, the room was very spacious but freezing and as it was only a blanket on the bed meant t was freezing. the curtains were a very light blue which let ALOT of light through. the little top windows whichwere next to bed didnt shut properly, even when the latch was down youcould push the window at least a 1cm open which let in a big draft. would recommend in the summer when the weater is ALOT better for a warmer vaction

Room Tip: do not stay oin 106
