We booked a coach tour with Sunrise, firstly the feeder coach was fine, but on arriving at our holiday coach, that was hired and in a very dirty state, the toilet was permantly locked for the duration of the outward journey.
On arriving at the Clarence, we had all cases left in foyer, so we had to take our cases in the lift ( out of the arc ) the brochure said all luggage handling included. Thats a joke.
Rooms were very basic, not very clean, musky and dusty.All floorboards creaked constantly. day and night. Top bed cover stained. Head board fell off on first night, there it stayed til we departed. Towels changed once in the whole week.
Nightclub opposite gave constant noise all night, drunks even climbed on balcony breaking a carriage lamp.
Reception area toilet was unfit to use./ lack of staff, the whole place needed a good clean.
We were rushed during meals, waiter hoovered over us, waiting for our evening meal order, before we had finished eating breakfast. Mismatched cutlery, dirty crockery.
Very disappointing, now we know why it didnt have any star rating. Would not recommend anyone going there in its present state.
First time with this company, and the last. We have been on holidays for many years, and this has been by far the worst.

Stayed over Christmas. Only around thirty people staying in the whole hotel so would guess that there are problems. Staff were friendly but overstretched. Each were doing several jobs. Cost cutting? Pleasant staff but worst bit was that there was NO hot water for the entire five day stay there. No apology either personally or by a note slipped through the door. The entertainer was swearing which was unnecessary and upset some residents.

This hotel is bad. You can tell when a hotel is going downhill when they have to fill it with coach parties. We were the only private guests in the place. The rooms we scruffy, and the furniture was old painted chipboard stuff. The 1st morning we attempted breakfast, we were seated with the coach drivers in a seperete area to the golden oldies. The tea arrived with tea pots that leaked all over, and the milk tasted like UHT. The breakfast was swimming in grease and consisted of fatty bacon, sausages that tasted of saw dust and the baked beans were just vile (how can you mess up baked beans). We left breakfast and went to Asda for a wonderful cup of tea - Thank-you Asda.
In conclusion - DO NOT GO TO THE CLARENCE, then you wont be disappointed.

Stopped here in Easter last year. Shower didn't work. Room was small and dated. Another guest complained that his room hadn't been cleaned probably as there was Talcum Powder in his room. He was informed that his room had been cleaned and is was actually flea powder they had put down! Breakfast was poor.

Booked this through Internet which said there was parking (Limited spaces). There is actually only on road parking available which as the previous reviewer stated you are competing with the general public and other hotels.

The staff were helpful and the bar stopped open late were the only good points.
