“ignorant, smug and useless”

booked a room at this 'hotel' for one evening with booking.com. was greeted on arrival by the tattoo man who's first words to me were that he did not recognise our name for the booking. His business partner arrived and asked who we had booked with, when I said online wit booking.com he sucked in his breath and said what did I expect then, I should have booked with him direct and that he had no rooms. He said that the problem with booking online with an agent was that they expected him to check his emails all the time - and that it was unreasonable for an agent to expect him to do that. Then he kept saying it was our own fault for booking that way and that as we were in a rush to attend a family party we should hurry up and start looking elsewhere for somewhere to stay. Luckily it being September we were able to literally walk across the road to another B&B where we were immediately made to feel welcome. I have never encountered such poor customer service from a B&B in my life - although having seen the state of the scruffy interior during the short time I spent in the lobby it was possibly a very lucky escape. I suspect there is very little repeat custom unless shabby, dirty, rude and unhelpful is your thing.

Booked family room on line last minute for August bank holiday - with slight trepidation as reviews not too good but not much else available. Due to comments in reviews did telephone the next day to confirm booking and was told the specific room booked on line was not available but was offered another straight away. Location is pretty good being in a quiet side street but one or two minutes walk away from pier, shops and beach. There are two long stay car parks also only a minutes walk away and only two pounds for 8 hours and 50p overnight if no parking avialable on street . Very friendly greeting on arrival. Room contained two large bunk beds and a double bed with ensuite shower etc. and tea tray. Linen and sanitary ware were pristine but some of the periferals need closer attention eg massive cobweb in window, cloth cover on tv table needed a good wash, menu cards at breakfast need a wipe, lampshade in room grotty - is it sexist to say a woman's touch may be needed? Had to ask for some more milks for tea tray but this was sorted asap. The hotel is under new management and they seem to be in the process af absorbing the next door hotel into this one. Good, freshly cooked breakfast . Reasonable value at £69 pounds for family of 4 - have stayed in worse.

Just returned from this Hotel? glad it was only for one night. Was greeted by tatttoo man and his earings and shown in to our room which appeared to be a bed-sit (I personally thought it was the proprietors accommodation) Didn't dare look too close for the grime. I am not a snob but it is a 1* b and b at most. The 'hotel' was run by a strange group of men who although pleasant do not know the word clean. I suppose you get what you pay for but avoid this one.

Good value, clean and comfortable.
Great breakfast.
Parking is an issue, but plenty within a short walk.

“Cheap & Cheerful - does what it is meant to do!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2010

We were off to Llandudno for a weekend with a 7 year old, and after reading the reviews on here thought we would still take the chance that this was ok. We booked a double room with an interconnecting room, and were pleased with the price we paid for two nights B&B. We managed to park outside, street parking with no restrictions. We were met and welcomed by the owner/manager who is a cheerful friendly guy. No problems with the rooms - they had tv, and a freeview box, facilities to make hot drinks, and rather than two tea bags and two milk sachets which a lot of hotels supply, there were ample supplies of both. We had an ironing board and for some reason two irons (I hate ironing and my husband thought that was amusing). There is a radio alarm, and lots of literature in the room about local things to do. The one thing missing sadly was a hairdryer, and I never travel with one expecting most places to supply one, but I bet if I had asked one would have been produced. I thought the bed and pillows were spot on - the best two night's sleep I have had in ages.

Breakfast was hot and although there was a set menu there was no problem when we wanted specific items for our son rather than one of the set meals. (One sausage, scrambled egg, and a hash brown was not on the menu, but was provided with a smile). The lady who serves the breakfast was very friendly and helpful with advice about local shops and the expected weather.

This hotel is central for most things in town. About a minute walk to the High Street, a few minutes from the pier and prom, a few minutes from the tram. In the evening for food, there was a more than adequate Wetherspoon a minute away and a small pub called the Cottage that served good food.

There were a noisy party who arrived back at the hotel about 3 am and there were doors slamming, but you can't blame that on the hotel, just inconsiderate guests!

Would I stay here again? Yes - but I would bring a hairdryer next time!! This is a cheap and cheerful B and B, one of those that does what is says on the box!
