Recently I spent a few nights at the St Omer B&B in Eastborne. After reading previous reviews was unsure what to expect. After experiencing this B&B, I would recommend it to a friend. If I had to give it a grade I would feel that it was of a 3star standard. The house is a town house, with four or five flights of stairs(rooms on each floor). There were older guests with walking difficulties(not sure where they stayed but they didn't seem to have any complaints). The room itself was adequate. My room had ensuite facilities. Cleaning was average. Bed was comfortable. Atmosphere in the guest house was pleasant. The landlord was very friendly and patient but not intrusive. He was also very helpful in giving needed directions to where I wanted to go. Staff were friendly too. Personally I find that if you treat people with respect and courtesy, you tend to get it reciprocated. Politeness goes a long way! Breakfast was okay (the usual B&B fare). As long as they knew ahead of time,( a change in what you wanted) they were happy to oblige. I believe that you can go half-board, but I don't recall seeing any ecvening meals being served while I was there. There were returning guests, so that in itself is a recommendation. Parking was on the street outside. You have to pay (a nominal fee) for a permit each day from the landlord. Location was very good. Across the road from the beach, and a couple of minutes from the pier. Plenty of restaurants nearby (in fact a good restaurant next door). Close to the town centre ( 10 mins walk). In short, if you want luxury, this is not the place for you, but if you want a base at a reasonable price and standard, you won't go far wrong.
