“The finest experience.”

Set amid a picturesque walled garden, my wife discovered the award winning B & B “Ocklynge Manor”. This was six years ago, and ever since it is the only place my family and I choose to stay when visiting Eastbourne. Nestled conveniently between Brighton and Hastings, it is ideally located for exploring most popular Sussex and Kent landmarks.

A “listed property” “Ocklynge Manor” is built upon historical ground, archaeological digs unearthed relics of settlements existing there pre-Roman times. Today the manor offers all modern amenities, extremely comfortable rooms, and is meticulously maintained by proprietors Wendy & David Dugdill. Congenial and informative, they are most gracious hosts.

In their cosy dining-room, with wood-burning fire and views of the magazine featured garden, hot tea and coffee await you each morning. Wendy prepares a hearty English breakfast, plus fresh fruit, selection of cereals, and juices to suit all tastes. Don’t miss her home made scones, bread, marmalade, and preserves, they are a special treat.

Incidentally, we live in Las Vegas, my profession is marketing the largest resorts and hotels in the world, so I know the hospitality industry rather well. That said, “Ocklynge Manor” is a magical find, their five star gold, and other noted awards are absolutely well deserved.

For my family the allure of “Ocklynge Manor” is the warm heartfelt welcome the owners and property radiate, making our annual visits feel more like coming home!

“Glad to be back.”

Four years ago (time flies) we visited here and loved it. We came back in January 2012, and it was even better than we remembered. Sure, it's not the cheapest in Eastbourne, but it is the best. We have had some very dodgy accommodation in Eastbourne in the past, at a fraction of Ocklynge's cost, so I am more than happy to pay that bit extra for a lovely (huge) room, a very warm welcome, and a wonderful relaxed breakfast. The home-made marmalade was superb.

By now you're probably read some great reviews of Ocklinge Manor; go with them all I/we endorse them. This B&B exceeds them - it's that good!
Clearly it's the result of some fine teamwork and David's DIY skills can't be over looked either.
All of the attention to detail from Wendy and David is incredible, that's what makes this place.

What more can I say that hasn't already been said about this absolute stunner of a B&B? There aren't enought superlatives to describe the wonderful, kind, thoughtful, considerate hosts that are Wendy and David, not to mention their lovely staff.

Wendy very kindly booked us into two separate restaurants on consecutive nights and very kindly dropped us off at the first one - the Italian previously mentioned by other reviewers - as it was in town. What service! The restaurant is also highly recommended as it too has very high levels of service, and very agreeable staff. Wendy also indulged us in light and amusing conversation at breakfast, which was much appreciated as we were the only guests over the weekend in question, probably due to its proximity to xmas (i.e. the weekend before).

We will definitely be returning in the not too distant future, hopefully to see the garden in all of its glory.Thanks you Wendy & David :-)

We stayed at Ocklynge Manor B&B for a couple of nights mid-December to do a bit of walking and could have easily stayed longer. The house is absolutely lovely - very warm, welcoming, and peaceful. Wendy and David are great hosts - friendly and helpful.

If you want a break from London but don't want to travel far, this is the place for you.
