Just spent 9 days here. Staff helpful and friendly. Felt like part of the family at the end of my stay. Overall the food was lovely. One main evening meal not up to usual standard. Wide variety of food for breakfast, including fruit. The highlight of my stay was opening my bedroom curtains each morning and watching the sun rise over the sea. Very beautiful. A balcony room is a must!! Would stay again.
I had to write a review, as we have been to this hotel for many years now, well over 10 years, and always found it very cosy, rooms excellent....and they have just been upgraded, staff always helpful when I had problems and had to go to hospital, and I am partly disabled. I believe the restaurant is going to be upgraded soon, not too sure on this. I am somewhat upset at the last review, as I do not know of the head housekeeper being like that at all!....I think this person should perhaps have talked to the hotel manager first before posting this. I did have one incident about the lift, and I calmly spoke to the reception, and all sorted out. I am sorry for the person, as they were going to a funeral, so must have been very upset....but I just cannot see the senior housekeeper being so rude....she has been so helpful to me in the past.
A wonderful hotel, on the seafront, with vast views both ways, lovely if you have a balcony room....the meals are excellent. Just cannot say more, we like to go there often. They are SO helpful.
I stayed at the Eastbourne Centre with my twelve year old daughter when we attended my mother's funeral. The hotel is fine. In the morning, we went down to breakfast at 8am and when we came back upstairs to get ready, the maids were doing all the rooms. My daughter's room was locked and the maid refused to unlock it, even to allow my daughter to get her heart medication, which she needs to take after breakfast! After banging for several minutes an older woman opened the door and very rudely announced that she was the main housekeeper and that she was supervising and inspecting the maid and basically that we had to wait till they'd finished. They were locked in there for 25 minutes!! Refused to answer our knocking. God knows what they were doing in there. When they finally left the room, my daughter went inside, and said sarcastically under her breath "finally!" as she went inside, yes she was sarcastic but that is hardly verbal abuse, one "finally" is it? The main woman, the one supervising or whatever, went mental and screamed at my daughter that she was a "f-ing b***h" and then started banging on the door, basically trapping us inside. My daughter was very frightened and intimidated and it took me half an hour to convince her to leave because she thought the woman would attack her if she came out. If we had not been on our way to my mother's funeral I would have called the police. As it is, I have told everyone I know and we are boycotting, this is despicable behaviour. This happened some time ago but I did not use the Internet then, my daughter asked me to post this.
The staff here are very friendly and will go out of their way to help. The hotel is clean throughout with wonderful views. We had a meal here every morning and most evenings and it couldn't be faulted. I did arrange for flowers to be delivered and again this was arranged free of charge, only the cost of the flowers. We like to stay at different locations around the UK but we will definitely be returning here. Service as its meant to be.
