“Loved this place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2012

It's rare that I moved to write a review but we really loved The Guesthouse East and so had to write about it. We arrived recently after a very long flight from Hong Kong, tired, jetlagged and with a sick infant in tow and it couldn't have been nicer to arrive at this place. The room was beautiful, luxuriously furnished, spotlessly clean, full of nice food and toilettries and extremely comfortable and quiet. Just what we needed! Sarah and Carl were so lovely and kind and offered us lots of help when our little one got sick. They even lent us baby items that we needed and the kitchen in the room is a godsend for preparing food. All in all, a great place to stay in a fantastic location at really good value for money.

I hope your little one is back on form - not really the return to Blighty you must have hoped for and the last thing you needed after a long haul flight. The least we could do was to try to make it a little easier for you.
Thank you so much for the lovely review.
Hope you and the family enjoy being back after your stint in HK.

“Exceptional service and family friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

We so enjoyed our weekend with the host family, who are extra proactive in providing ideas for things to do, accommodating all our family needs, and generally being available. The rooms are comfortable, the showers are full of power, and the hospitality amazing. Their little children even shared their toys with ours and they all played in the private back garden. We felt so at home and welcome and had a great time.

Thanks Evelyn
Great to have you and your family here - our children love having extra friends around to bounce with on the trampoline or rustle things up together on their 'cooker' so I think it should it should be me thanking you rather than the other way round.
We're not far from London so I hope we see you again.

“Warm atmosphere, wonderful hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Chose to stay at Guesthouse East based on reviews seen on Tripadvisor. A family-run guesthouse with plenty of warmth. Well located, near the sea face too. The rooms are eclectic, spacious and the bath ... super-spacious! The room even had a small kitchen, fully equipped. The hosts are warm and welcoming and go out of their way to help you have a great time - even offered us their cycles for free! Only thing we missed - a cupboard with shelves so that we did not have to live out-of-our-bags. And yes, the porridge is outstanding! Great price too - we got 3 nights for the price of 2. Thanks Sara & Carl.

“lovely sunny break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

Carl and Sarah are very welcoming without being in your face. Carl was particularly helpful with routes for a walk to beachy head and the seven sisters walk. He even offered to give us a lift up to Beachy Head which we declined as it was a lovely day and we felt fit. Huge beds and no noise pollution in the solid large, comfy, rooms. Very good.

Thanks for the review, Nick.
Glad you made it up to Beachy Head on such an amazing day - the views still captivate me and I'm up there at least once a week!
Hope to see you both again.

“great location nice place”

I'd never been to Eastbourne before but loved it, as did the rest of my family. The Guesthouse East was fine in most respects and it was interesting to have a litle kitchen, which i am sure would prove a very good thing on a multi-night stay. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. They gave recommendations and discount vouchers for several local restaurants and cafes, which were good and trimmed the bill a bit.
They fitted five of us into a room which we appreciated, but it made the floor space a little limited, although the kitchen acted as an outlet for dressing, etc. The room had a TV/DVD and there were DVDs to choose from. We watched Airplane!
Hard to beat the location, though, with sea one minute's walk , restaurants from one minute and shopping in town centre about 5 minutes.
The beach has proper rock pools at low tide (head W down the seafront) which is priceless with kids of any age. The pier is classy (turn L at sea front!!!!), by pier standards.
Beachy Head (3 miles W) is amazing.
Happy memories.

Thank you so much for providing feedback on your family stay.
We're delighted you enjoyed both the guesthouse and Eastbourne (which always seems to exceed people's expectations).
We are quite unusual in our ability to offer good space for five (some suites offer more space than others so it is always helpful when we can discuss requirements before a booking is made).
Having a separate kitchen certainly offers loads of flexibility and freedom in terms of rustling up snacks and meals but also the additional space - tho you deserve extra credit for finding a new dressing room :-)
Thanks again
Carl
