“The worst 'hotel' i have ever stayed in.”

A waring to anyone even thinking about booking a room here, don't. The management should be paying YOU £90 a night to stay in this hotel. I stayed here recently, and ended up demanding a refund after such an awful experiance. The hotel room i stayed in was a sea view room, and the view was the only decent thing about the place. The bedroom itself was dreadful, i have stayed in hotel rooms all over the world and love a bit of rustic charm, but this place was in a time warp. I had towels in the bathroom with holes in, wallpaper peeling off the walls, stained bedsheets, no hot water, mouldy bathroom with a shower that was like a dripping tap, the bathroom was riddled with silver fish, curtains that were not wide enough for the window so i had constant daylight, painted over light bulbs as to not have glare on the tv, the bedside tables had stains on. The other couple in my party had the room next door to me and had water coming in their ceiling from the bedroom above. It appears little work has been done over the decades to this hotel, it smells like an old peoples home. The continental breakfast was extreamly minimal with a selection of 4 yogurts, no ham, no salmon, barely anything that was advertised on the menu. The place is totally unfit for guests, and should be closed down or gutted. An un-modern, awful hotel, with a manager with no manners and will try his hardest not to give you a refund.

Room Tip: There are no good rooms, the hotel hasn't been changed since the 1970's.

“Poor value for money”

The hotel looked very nice on entering with some very nice original features. I had paid extra for a sea view room and was looking forward to getting settled in. The room was extremely small and the bathroom even smaller and the sea view window also very small, very disappointing. The staff you could not fault but we had dinner on the Saturday night and you could have soled your shoes with the Beef but the breakfast was excellent, but this did not make it worth the £90 I had paid for the bed and breakfast.

“Excellent Hotel, Very friendly and helpful staff.... Deffo in A list”

Stayed there in Sep 2011 for 4 nights. The check in was smooth and the receptionist was very kind to upgrade me to a double sea view room without any extra charge or request. The housekeeping was perfect with ample tea and coffee and biscuits available in room. A typical traditional hotel. Brand new carpets on the corridors, stairs lobby. Bar has been lately modernised as well as they are introducing a gym, sauna and saloon services. Meals have a wide variety to choose from, food is always hot, the waitress is nice bubbly and makes your time very pleasant. perfect location to sit outside in evening and listen to live music from bandstand. Dont understand why people is are not happy, talk to management and try to get the problem rectified rather than leaving bad reviews. It doesn't help anyone.

Room Tip: Just talk to reception or their reservation team, very helpful and puts ur comfort first.

“Chatsworth Hotel Eastbourne”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

the rooms we were in were basic and small and at the back of the hotel, the common rooms were better but some of the decorations were a bit unusual, the staff were very helpful and friendly, the evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss.
the hotel is a ideally placed for the centre of Eastbourne and local attractions.

Room Tip: pay the extra and get a seaview room

“Lovely cosy hotel serving good food in a classy little restaurant.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

I got a good deal on staying here by phoning the central reservation desk after checking out the website. I stayed for two nights breakfast and dinner for a total of £114! The restaurant is as it ought to be, lovely white table cloths, cloth serviettes with a lovely view of the sea. The food was really nice and served by a friendy waiter.
Ask at reception for a parking permit, they cost £1 a day and can be used to park your car in front of the sea. You do have to ask though, they didn't offer it.
The lift is tiny so do accept their offer of help with your bags.
Wireless internet is available at their sister hotel next door.

Room Tip: Always ask to upgrade when you get there.
