“Cannot fault this Hotel or it's Staff.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I never write reviews but we have just returned from the most perfect long weekend where we stayed at The Cavendish Hotel. From the minute we arrived the staff bent over backwards to ensure our stay was a good one. We had a suite with a seaview which was stunning and spotlessly clean. We booked in advance for the "Valentines" meal that was held on the Saturday Night and it was the best meal we have had for a long time, and we do dine out alot. The service was impeccable! We simply could not fault the food in any of the resturants within the Hotel. Even the bar food was very good and plentiful. There was something for everyone when it came to the Breakfast buffet. I had a fantastic relaxing massage from Emma at "Pebbles" spa which is with in the Hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anybodyand we are already looking forward to returning in the near future. Thank you all at the Cavendish for making our weekend so special! ...Mr & Mrs Pringle.

“Impressive Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We have just returned from a 3 night break at the Cavendish and were very impressed. The check-in was speedy, Reception staff were extremely polite and efficient (Sarah especially). We were a little apprehensive with relation to the car parking because of comments made on previous reviews, but we had no problem whatsoever. We arrived at 11.30am and our room was ready for us - we would certainly recommend this room 410 - a good size with an enormous bed, huge wrap around balcony and floor to ceiling windows with fantastic views - a very pleasant surprise, we will certainly book this room the next time we visit Eastbourne. The only downside was the room was really chilly, but this seemed to be a problem in the Marine restaurant and other public rooms also, possibly because of the sub zero temperatures outside! I telephoned Reception and within 5 minutes a small fire arrived (excellent service) which helped but it still remained chilly. Luckily we found two blankets to place on top of the duvet!! The Hotel is very stylishly furnished with a fusion of modern and old - we found The Library a very special place to have a pre-dinner drink, although unusual that there was no waiter service and we had to order our drinks from the bar and carry them through! The food in the Marine Restaurant was generally quite good but for a 4 star Hotel we would expect fresh orange juice for breakfast and not "squash"! Because we arrived on a Wednesday in the middle of Winter, the restaurant was almost empty and we therefore felt very special with the individual service we received from the Head Waiter - unfortunately we did not get to say Goodbye because it was his day off on the Friday. The atmosphere was very different when the restaurant was full, although still very well managed. All in all we think that this was quite a special find and will definitely return.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the modern part of the Hotel as high up as possible with a sea view - much quieter...

Hot food was cold, pastries still frozen, constant drilling by outside workers on the hotel, staff ignored customers, had to ask for toast and for coffee only thing i did not have to ask for was the bill and that was produced immediately and so fast it was hot unlike the breakfasts! Avoid the breakfast was £10 and i would not recommend to anyone.

“Winter Weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Spent a lovely winter weekend with my significant other during a rather chilly early February weekend. Our room, a sea view, was excellent value and was spotlessly clean and spacious with a huge bed with crisp bed linen. We both slept well and then enjoyed an excellent buffet breakfast in the beautiful dining room. Plenty of choice of cooked items (in particular excellent sausages and bacon), cooked meats, various fruits and pastries and toast. All the staff we met were very friendly and professional and seemed to enjoy their jobs and the teams in which they worked. The hotel although not luxurious is very comfortable and was a bargin (£81.50 per night on Booking.com) and we were more than happy with our short stay. We had dinner in the resturant on Saturday night as we didn't want to venture out in the snow, and found the food to be of a good standard. If I had to find a negative, I would say that the temperature in some of the public areas was a little cool, but this is due to the high ceilings and large windows which of course in more clement weather would be entirely different. The building was charming with echos of a bygone era, the stained glass windows, the wide sweeping staircase and the high ceilings with ornate plasterwork were lovely features. My husband had a massage during our stay and he throughly enjoyed the 90 minute pampering. The hotel is well placed near the pier, shopping centre and other resturants, and of course some lovely walks are close by. We hope to be able to visit again in the warmer weather.

Room Tip: Sea view room worth paying for.

“Hot House”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Room way to hot, even though we turned everything off and opened window and it was January!
Staff pleasant except the checking out receptionist who was more concerned about her printer not working.
Woken at 2 am by females running up and down the corridors screaming and laughing. No staff intervention, it took a resident who had a go at them to calm things down.
No opportunity is given to residents to give feedback to the hotel

Room Tip: Avoid room 116 as it a hot house!
