We are a large group of friends who have just stayed at the New Wilmington Hotel on a Turkey and Tinsel weekend. We have been on many of these weekends but usually go to Warners or large hotels/venues but my husband and I had stayed at The Wilmington earlier in the year for the tennis tournament (its just across the road from the hotel) and I knew it would be a winner with my friends.

From the moment we all arrived until we left we were looked after extremely well. The rooms were very well furnished, beds were so comfortable, spotlessly clean, very warm and lovely bathroom with shower over, there were also lovely white clean towels.

It was the little extras that make a weekend special. Like the sherry before dinner on the first night (Christmas Eve), wine with dinner (Christmas night) and Bucks fizz before dinner on Sunday evening (New Year's Eve). They had also set quizzes and prizes were given out for the winners which was a very nice touch.

Also if you needed anything all the staff without exception were very obliging and helpful.

There was entertainment every night which was good but unfortunaely the room for this is on the small side and as we are dancers it was a bit on the tight side but we still managed to dance and have a good time.

The food was excellent and plenty of it and if you wanted a slight change or an extra scoop of ice cream there was never any problems asking the waiters or waitresses.

I would highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Eastbourne whether you are a couple or a large group. Its just very good. Its near all the amenities you need, shops, the front, the pier and you will get a warm welcome from Sue Harris, the Manager and every one of the staff you meet.

I know some of my friends are already thinking about going back next summer and I am sure we will be repeating a turkey and tinsel in the not too distant future. Brilliant.

When booking, I informed the receptionist that my wife and I both have mobility problems. We were told that a room is put aside for the storage of buggies and wheelchairs and were given the number of a local hire firm who arranged to have the buggies delivered on our arrival.We were happy to see also that there was a chair lift in operation against a six stair change in level on the ground floor. All very helpful. We had an economy room with very comfortable beds. The shower room was quite adequate and the bedroom well appointed. The hotel is spotlessly clean and all the staff pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed a varied dinner menu on each night and started the day with a good breakfast. The hotel is in a quiet road, just back from the front and adjacent to the Eastbourne theatres.. We enjoyed our stay and will certainly consider another visit.

i recently stayed at the new wilmington hotel in eastbourne, i travelled with a coach party.the management and staff couldnt do enough for us the occasion was turkey & tinsel and it was realy like christmas and new year, the entertainment was first class the meals were excelent and served with very friendly staff the room was very spacious and unlike some hotels very quiet.
the hotel is very clean with nice decor i would recomend this hotel to any one looking for a nice holiday in eastbourne

Although this hotel prides itself on "The best rated hotel in Eastbourne as rated by Tripadvisor", take that with a pinch of salt. It is NOT the best hotel in Eastbourne.
The hotel was ok, interior is quite dated and it seems to cater for coach parties of the over 60's.
On checkout you are encouraged to make a good review on Tripadvisor. So I have and I rate it overall 3 and a half stars out of five.
