“A HAPPY New Year”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

I stayed at The Queens to celebrate the New Year with two other lady friends. I had the single room on the first floor which was a very good size and the bathroom even bigger with a walk in shower. Lovely wide stair cases and the stained glass window on the first floor landing was breathtaking. A lovely old Hotel but very comfortable food good and a very
good buffet on New Years Eve at midnight. Staff very friendly especially Bob and Bert behind the Bar. We paid £288 for a three night stay and enjoyed every minute, we are in our early 60's and some were younger than us and of course a lot of them a lot older. But everyone joined in the dancing and fun. Will definitely be using this Hotel again.

Room Tip: I always request a low floor with being on my own and requested my friends to have an adjoining room...

“Rude obnoxious staff, not recommended”

Caught in rain by Eastbourne pier, we stepped in here as it had huge ad for Teas in front window. Reception staff rudely told us teas were off out of season, but he had no intention of covering his sign. Front area looked pretty tired & tatty.

We went elsewhere (excellent Belgian Cafe further along the parade) & won't be considering this hotel for any future stays.

“Never stopped laughing!”

Firstly, yes the hotel is old, but it is still elegant and charming. The staff and the service was very very good.
But the best bits are the antics of some of the fellow guests. I love to people watch. I must say that some of the things that the older guests do and requests they make of the staff are absolutely hilarious. Quite often there were situations that would not have been out of place in any top comedy show. At times my group were doubled over laughing, especially at the perplexed expressions of the wonderful staff, when they were confronted by these many priceless comedy moments.
I am looking forward to a return visit, certainly had a brilliant holiday and my ribs still ache.

“Well worth it!”

We stayed for three nights from 27th October and had a great time. Yes the hotel is old but thats the beauty of it. We had a sea view room that was a lot larger than many other rooms we have stayed in. It was clean and comfortable, a large double bed, dresser, two comfy chairs so what if it has an old TV and not many channels, I'm not there to watch TV. The Hotel looked very grand and was in the perfect location. Just across the road is the pier and within five minutes your in the shopping centre and whre there are lots of bars and resteraunts. Car parking is free which is a bonus.

When we checked in the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. A large hall for dancing and entertainment and a reasonable bar that was open until midnight. I will stay there again when we visit Eastbourne again.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are great.

“Needs investment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

Just come back from a pretty eventful trip to this hotel. The staff were friendly, it was clean, great location, plenty of parking. The place has a 'Phoenix Nights' feel to it, with the average age of the guests about 75 and complete with lounge singer. However, the whole place just needs investment. Decor was very old as were the facilities- a mini old fashioned TV, no internet offered. I looked into an emergency exit stairwell next to our room and found most of the plasterboard coming off the walls. Finally, we got into the most uncomfortable bed we've ever slept on. After a couple of hours of trying, we couldn't sleep and we asked to change rooms. The staff were very apologetic but the hotel was full- fair enough. So, we put the two blankets (no duvets here) onto the mattress and replaced the sheet, hoping this would help. But, at about 1.30 AM, my pregnant wife decided she'd had enough so we decided to check out and drive home. This would all have been fine, but the next day, my dad (who was still staying there) was approached by the management and we were accused of making off with the blankets. After speaking to us, he told them where they were.. still on the bed, and where they would have found them if they had changed the sheets (which they obviously hadn't). Nice.
