“5 Star - All the way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

An excellent 2 night stay over New Year. The room was very spacious, clean and with great facilities & a comfy bed.
We enjoyed a freshly cooked to order English breakfast from locally sourced ingredients. A wide range of cereals, fruit and yogurts were also available.
All the staff were very friendly and attentive.
An impressive stay - would highly recommend for excellent value for money and facilities - I will definitely stay at the Da Vinci hotel again. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable. Caroline, Tim, Rachel & James

“one night only”

Just to let you know, the hotel was more than adequate for a one night stopover. The room (201) was a bit on the small side. It was clean and tidy and had been modernised. Although we were surprised that there was no heating in the room other than a little portable electric headter - but it did its job and we were not cold. The bed had a memory foam matress, which we were not aware of on booking. i understand they take a bit of getting used to if you've not slept in one before.. The bathroom had nice smellis in and the tea and coffee facitlities in the room were also good. The breakfast was fairly average. It stated that the sausages and bacon were sourced from a local farm. The bacon was good, but the sausages were poor and were deep fried like you get from a chip shop. My husband ordered fried egg and I ordered poached...... they looked the same. We did question the waiter, but he said there was one of each. The breakfast wasn't very hot and we didn;t have any hash browns that were on the menu. The service at the table however, was very efficient. I would stay here again as the hotel ticked all the boxes, but it just seemed to lack that homey feel that our usual b and b has. I guess thats just a personal choice thing.

Thank you for your kind review of the hotel and for taking the time to write. The room you mention is one of the smaller ones at the back of the hotel although I hope you agree that we price them accordingly.

I am sorry to hear that the breakfast was only average as this is an area which I think is very important for our success. I have talked to the chef about the sausages and he says that they take a long time to fry but I am encouraging this - you know how delicate you have to be with chefs!!! Regarding the hash browns, it is a mystery as I have checked and we did not run out.

Regardless, we look forward to seeing you here again or else our sister establishment which reopens (as a boutique bed and breakfast establishment) later this year. Watch this space for further details.

“Excellent Value For Money”

We had the pleasure of staying here recently and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel.
Upon arrival we were greeted very warmly and given a parking permit almost straightway. Then we were escorted to our room.

The room itself was a bit on the small side but was very nicely decorated with quality fittings. The room had a very nice smell about it.
The bed was firm but comfortable and the sheets were clean and crisp.
The only disappointing side was the strength of the bedside lights, which were too weak to read by. Good quality flat screen TV and wall mounted DVD player. A good size DVD library was available as Freeview was not available in the area.
Some dust present on some surfaces, particularly on the headboard, but the overall room presentation was of a high standard.

The bathroom contained a shower cubicle which was a little on the small side for me with a slightly weak electric shower. However, the bathroom was clean with a good selection of complimentary toiletries. Very nice illuminated mirror, which was a quality touch.

The reception areas were very nicely decorated with stylish furnishings and fittings, boutique style. Free WIFI was also available

Overall, in my estimation you would be hard pushed to find better for your money. For example one of the larger sea front hotels were charging circa £1500 for a 5 night all inclusive Xmas break for two people!

Definitely a hotel to recommend with confidence.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review following your stay at the da Vinci Hotel. I am glad you enjoyed your stay and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel. I am not sure which room you stayed in but guess it was one of our standard rooms at the rear of the hotel.

Whilst these rooms are not as large as those at the front, we feel they are perfectly adequate and we have tried to make them as comfortable and functional as possible. I am sorry to here about the dust on the surfaces and promise to take this up with housekeeping.

Regarding the bedside reading light, you have a good point and I will investigate putting these on the bedside lockers. We have been investing investing in energy saving bulbs throughout the hotel but they just don't throw out enough light and take hours to turn on ...that's energy efficiency for you I suppose.

Finally thank you for your confident recommendation and hope to see you again...but please book early for Christmas now you have told everyone what our neighbours are charging!!!

Went for a nice 2 day trip this autumn and had a really lovely stay in "Da Vinci" hotel. Room was elegantly designed and spacious. King size bed was comfortable and the blanket warm and gentle...You can feel the mild aroma of the sea air in the room which creates seaside atmosphere...
Staff was really welcoming and friendly with high professional service standards!
Recommend this hotel for couples and families.

Thank you for your review and taking the time to file this with TripAdvisor. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and found the room elegant and spacious....I am not sure about the mild aroma of the sea air which may be the new air freshner .. it's called sea breeze!!! Thanks for the kind comments about the welcoming and friendly staff - it is always nice to get positive feedback which I can forward to them.
