The hotel is nice enough but seems a bit dated. The rooms are okay but again feel like they could be renovated. Try and get a room that is not on the side of the bar next door as it was very loud one night, particularly when they emptied all the bottles into the rubbish skip. Staff on reception were very friendly and helpful though. Breakfast buffet is very good with a decent selection. It would be handy if the hotel had a gym, especially as most guests seem to be there on business.

The hotel is clean and serviceable, but nothing special. But the spry old guy working in the kitchen can really whip up some great herring and venison. I had my best meal in Stavanger just in the hotel, and I went to a much fancier and costlier restaurant the night before on the waterfront. This boosted my rating from 3 to 4. Also, the breakfast buffet is good.

Stayed for 5 days at the Radisson Blu Royal and it was Ok, but not what I would expect for US$350 a day.

Pros:
It has an indoor pool, which I didn't use, and nice interior.
Breakfast was great too, so is the bar/restaurant.
The room is bright and clean.
The location is great, within walking distance to the many bars and restaurantes in the historic center and the bay area. Just one block from Old Stavanger area.

Cons:
The bed is small and hard for my taste.
Since its actually in front of the street, you get to hear some noise, but there is not too much traffic in Stavanger anyway.
The room temperature is not stable. It gets really cold, then you increase the temp and it gets too hot, I couldn't find a balance.
The room (as you can see in my picture) is quite simple for a supposedly luxury and bathrooms are outdated.
I don't like the designated smoking area located right by main hotel entrance.
Theres always a lot of people smoking and you need to cross a "smoke curtain" to enter the hotel.
Hotel is expensive for what it offers, as with most hotels in Norway.

Good business hotel, and my first choice when in Stavanger. Everything is good enough, and you won't go wrong picking this hotel.

* Good location
* Nice and clean rooms
* OK restaurant
* Great breakfast
* Friendly staff
* Nice pool in the basement

Minuses:
* Pretty busy traffic so make sure to get a room on one of the higher floors
* Just like every other hotel in Stavanger, seriously overpriced. Nothing to do about that though
* Most rooms are of decent size, but some are tiny. Avoid those.
