The hotel is located in a former warehouse on the harbor waterfront. The original massive wood beams have been exposed and incorporated into the hotel's decor, an impressive sight. The location is in the old town center, within convenient walking distance of the shops and other downtown attractions. If you have a room on the harbor side of the hotel, you can borrow a fishing pole from reception and fish from your room! Our room was rather small with mediocre lighting. There was a hair dryer and small refrigerator, but no toiletries or coffee maker. There was only one hand towel and one bath towel per person, an unwelcome surprise which necessitated a trip to the front desk for additional towels. Given the price of the room, the lack of towels was quite unwelcome. Apparently requests for additional towels is common, as the front desk had a supply of them on hand, and cheerfully provided them on request. Windows open (good for fishing from). Our room on the harbor side was very quiet, except for the very noisy seagulls. Room rate includes a bountiful supper (one hot entree, with a vast array of cold dishes), afternoon waffles, and a bountiful buffet breakfast. We found no need to go elsewhere for meals, a distinct advantage given the extremely high cost of dining in Norway.
