spent the weekend at this hotel, and must say that i was over all very pleased
with the total experience. Central as can be i supose in such a small city as Ålesund.
Lookout spot at aksla is not far from the hotel and is higly recommended on a sunny day!
breakfast was ok, and rooms where clean and up to date. Nice and helpfull staff.
A bit noisy bar next to the reception area, but you don't notice it when in your room.
overall a very good hotel experience. Not that expensive either in
norwegian measuring terms.

The best thing about this hotel is the location, which I think is among the best in the city. We were lucky, I think, to get a very spacious corner front room overlooking the street in front. The breakfast one morning (early) was good and the other morning was poor (late and weekend) as there were practically nothing to eat left. I could find some old dust on places hard to clean. The bathrooms are OK, but nothing spectacular. The rooms are not like new, but they function and things are generally very OK. No problems recommending this hotel to most people I know.

This is a reasonably priced hotel right in the centre of Alesund. My room was a bit basic, lacking good finishing touches. It overlooked an office block/apartments on the other side of the road. I couldn't sleep with the window open because of road noise. The road wasn't busy but it was cobbled so every passing car was noisy!
The bathroom was OK, nothing spectacular. Watch out for the shower doors as they leak all over the floor!
Do not expect a full English breakfast: it's very continental.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
Summary - if you are a budget traveller, this hotel gives all you need at a reasonable price.

I booked a superior room and got an attic room which was quite big, but with uninspired decor and NO view. Unless standing on the tip of your toe trying to look out.

Based on the room I was assigned I would not recommend this hotel to a friend. Other rooms might be better.

Otherwise, I agree with the other reviewers that service was friendly and helpful and the public areas was quite charming.
