I am writing this as i am staying here,this is the fifth time i have stayed here in the last four years and the standard of the room and clientele has went downhill. I have been here one week into a two week stay and the only thing done in my room is a set of towels throwen onto my bed. When i got here there were still crisps lying on the floor from the previous occupant. The halls smell of indian cooking and and looks like they have not been cleaned in weeks. I have been woken up at two,three and four o'clock by the noise of three indian women upstairs,i have complained to bar staff and went to there door at 5am and i have still had to listen to them for the last 10 hours.

Went to Bergen for a concert and arrived early in the morning. We went by the hotel to drop off our luggage and to ask for the check-in time. We were offered an unlocked closet under the stairs for our luggage and a check-in at 14:00. At 14:30 we came back to get our room. Our room was not ready, but we were given another and merrily climbed the stairs to the first floor. The room however was not cleaned and contained a pile of dirty laundry and empty beer-cans. After sitting around for a couple of minutes a member of staff appeared and tried to throw us out the room. As we wanted to get some rest before the concert we got to stay while they cleaned the room. At 15:15 they were finished and we had a clean room.

The following morning a member of staff unlocked the door and tried to enter the room, but changed his mind as I voiced my objections. That morning I tried to take a shower but the hot water ran out about half way through, my girlfriend had already taken a shower but I expected there to be enough for two persons to take a shower in an apartment for two! The room cost just above 1000 NOK for one night and at that price I expect a room on time and plenty of hot water, sadly Jacobs provided none of it. I strongly discourage anyone from using this hotel.

I stayed in the apartment. The facility is quite good, and a simple kitchen is included. But the shower drain in my room was a bit blocked, the floor became really wet after shower. The front desk is the same as the pub counter, and I found the staffs were more willing to serve those who eat or drink in the pub than those who stay. Except for the shower drain and the staffs, others are not bad.

The hostel is close to the center of town , but is located on a busy street and above a noisy pub, thus this prevents an appropriate climate for rest and relaxation. Our room was on the third floor and the room was a split level, where the bed was on the upper level, so during warm days/nights it gets extremely hot and sleeping conditions are hindered. The staff are not rude, but aren't overly useful. It is really overpriced. During our stay in Scandinavia we stayed at 6 different hostel / hotels and I recommend them all, except for this one. Don't stay here unless you have too.
