“Decent hotel in a convenient location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

Stayed here for one night during a music festival. The hotel was undergoing renovation, but the front desk was very helpful and the rooms were clean and basic. Quiet night, and good location, and reasonable price. I would recommend the hotel to people passing through and looking for a hotel in a decent location for a reasonable price. The breakfast was very basic (still good, just not a huge selection) compared to other hotels we stayed at while in Norway.

“just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2010

I stayed here in June 2008 for 2 nights, a last minute booking whilst backpacking around Norway. Was given the apartment for reasonable price as no rooms at the main hotel. The apartments were across the road from the main hotel and so we had to walk back over for breakfast. The apartment was very spacious and fairly modern but the cutlery was dirty and the kitchen was unclean. I complained about this but they did not bother to clean it. Location was central but quite noisy, with a couple of late bars nearby. Breakfast was good with a wide range of choice. I probably wouldnt stay here again but i guess its not all that bad overall.

“Awesome Mistake”

Having arrived at the hotel we headed for reception and were greeted with a smile, our smiles however soon sunk when we were informed that they had double booked our room and we instead had been placed in the apartment in the next building. As we lugged our bags outside and up the stairs we were dreading what we were about to discover, only to be COMPLETELY amazed at what we had been given (at no extra charge!). A two level 3 bedroom airy fully modern apartment which could have accommodated a family of 5+, with a balcony view across Bergen and looking out to the stunning Mount Floyen. It took us many hours to get over the shock.

The open-plan spotless apartment had a kitchen with all you could need, wooden floors throughout, wardrobes in the hall leading to the other 2 bedrooms, one of which was up the stairs on the next level. Also there was a 32inch wall mounted LCD television and the living area seating was more than comfortable.

The breakfast was ideal, self service, a good choice of cereals, fruits, drinks etc, also a nice space outside to sit in the sun.

We realise that this was a one off and most likely never will happen to anyone else but there's no question - this 'mistake' by the hotel made our first holiday together so very special and certainly if we were to return to the Bergen Travel Hotel we would request this apartment again whatever the cost.

“Nice cosy hotel near the city center”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

We were staying in the hotel for one night. The new reception is very light and open compare to the old one. The front desk personal was professional and gave us good recommendations for restaurants. Last time we were staying at the hotel there was no elevator, but after they had moved the reception, they have build elevators in both buildings. The breakfast was in the Italian restaurant above the reception it was nice. We did not use the wire less internet connection so we don’t know how that’s work, but we use the 2 computers in the reception that was free to use for the hotel guests. We are looking forward to come back to the hotel later this year.

“ok, if you mostly care about location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 August 2010

The hotel has a great location in the middle of down town Bergen.

At first we thought the room looked ok, it was roomy, and the bathroom was also big....but looking closer the rooms interiour was kind of cheap. The beds kept slipping apart during the night, and there was no windows, only a door leading to a backyard being used by residens in the building next door. The only way to get air during the night, was to open the door to the backyard. There were no aircondition in the room, and the temperature in the room was extremely high....
There was also lots of noise from the other rooms in the backyard, kind of disturbing in the middle of the night. The hotel is located in two bulidings, one of theese looked like it was renovated recently......the other one( wich we stayed in) was located across the street and hadnt been renovated for a while......the hallways smelled like sigarettes, and there was a bar( type brown) on the first floor. The hotel was also poorly sound isolated, we could hear everything going on in the hallway.
We could see that the maidservice had been in our room, only because they had made our bed, they didnt do anything else, the sink was dirty, and there was no toilet paper....

The only thing we can give them credit for, is the nice and service minded receptionist who let us check in early, and also offered us free breakfast. Unfortunaly we didnt get up to try it....
