Having paid 300 USD for a small single bed following a Norway in a Nutshell trip (strongly recommend the fjord excursion), I was disappointed with the size and accommodation of the room. Yes, in Norway, you pay royally for most anything, but I still think the price was quite high for the product. A higher touch of amenities, bedding, etc in the guest room would go a long way towards guest satisfaction.
That being said, the staff was friendly and the afternoon waffles and coffee was a nice touch. The continental breakfast was quite a bit below what you get at a true full-service Norwegian hotel, but it was sufficient. I found the location somewhat removed from the heart of Bryggen (wharf) but not enough so that I couldn't walk back and forth in less than 10 minutes. I would recommend the Augustin in part as there are not many other good hotels in Bergen for a comparable price, but I would pay no more than 200-250 USD in high season if you can help it.
Room Tip: Make sure you know if you get a single bed or something larger.
