We stayed at Hordaheimen in April 2011. They were doing renovations and we were given a small room with no working aircondition and no possibility to open the window. The hotel was full so we dcouldn't change room and since it was 10 pm we were not up to try to find a new hotel.
We could not really open the door to the corridor to air it out now and then since there was quite a lot of drunk people staying on our floor. The room got incredibly stuffy so we could hardly get any sleep (we gave up at 6 am which was three hours earlier than intended).

However, the most appaling thing was that when we checked out the receptionist says that they were fully aware of the state of the room - other people had also complained and for them had opened the window! Something they didn't do for us. He could not/didn't want to take our complaint so we had to write the hotel management later. We eventually got a refund but it took us one month of e-mailing to get it.

Room was fine. Good locaton, parking was a couple of blocks away. Finding it was very tricky with road construction. Nicely furnished. Pleasant breakfast setting with good quality food. Away from tourist area of town but easy to get to that area.

Hotel Hordaheimen has a good location, close to Torgalmenningen and the harbour (Fisketorget).The hotel is nicely refurbished in modern colors and the rooms are fine with spacious bathrooms. However, the food is below average. Overcooked vegetables and potatoes. And both the salmon served during lunch and the lamb steak served at dinner were quite tasteless. We had to help ourselves to coffee when the dessert was served. Because the meeting rooms were fully booked on day 2, we used the facilities at Holberg hotel. The lunch here was also salmon with vegetables. But this time the food was wonderfully prepared. What a difference! Next time we take a business trip I would rather recommend Holberg hotel.

Close to the main section of town but far enough away that it's much quieter. Room were nicer than expected and bathroom was better than average. Overall, a good option if you're not looking to stay at one of the upscale hotels in town.
