“Clean and convenient business hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Hotel is well situated close to the airport. The rooms are a decent size and are clean. There is a small gym which is well maintained and fine for a quick workout. Not too much around the hotel in the way of shops or services. The breakfast is decent, however the dinner in the hotel was very plain and not of a great standard.

“Quiet hotel for a night or two”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 January 2012

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in January 2012. In Bergen to attend a funeral. Room OK but walls and paintwork rather scuffed. Bathroom toiletries non-existant - no shampoo for example which is something most hotels provide. Not possible to make coffee/tea in room. Staff very helpful. Good breakfast. However, coming from England the price of everything is quite a shock. I used to live in Norway but the prices are much worse now. Glass of wine £9 and £10 for a lager in the hotel! Food was average and of course very expensive.

“Nice conference hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Stayed a weekend in September for a conference. The hotels location makes it a good conference hotel, but not particularly good for tourists. Several of the people attending the conference had problems finding the hotel, as it's not clearly signposted.

Check-in was quick and hassle-free and the room was big, modern and clean. We got a room facing away from the parking lots, so it was almost perfectly quiet in the room.

The hotel has free WiFi and free soft-ice (for conference guests only)!

The food in the restaurant is not particularly good, so I would recommend eating somewhere else.

Room Tip: Rooms on 2nd floor the right side (when at the main entrance) of the hotel are very quiet

“Mostly very good but some significant drawbacks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 August 2011

My family and I recently spent a night at the Edvard Grieg, which for us was conveniently located -- it's a few minutes drive away from the Bergen airport (which also means it's not particularly close to Bergen city center). This hotel has many laudable features: the staff were great (even though our reservation had been lost, they were still able to find a room for us), the atrium is impressive, the furniture and decor of the rooms is very high quality, and there is a hutch outside containing guinea pigs that children will love to pet and feed. I should also note that although we had to leave very early in the morning and so missed the breakfast buffet, when we checked out, we were given 'sack breakfasts' to take with us. However, the 'relax room' on the top floor (essentially a spa area with whirlpool, steamroom, exercise equipment, and great views of the surrounding countryside) was unusable - the summer sun pouring in through the windows rendered the entire area uninhabitable (at least for us). Although we were planning to relax in the whirlpool, this was a relatively minor drawback. What was really problematic was that our room was located on the inside, and looked out on the atrium. This meant the room was uncomfortably warm - opening the window did little to cool the room, and worse, the noise from people in the atrium was quite loud (even at 10:30 in the evening). So, we had to try to get to sleep in a hot, noise filled room. Additionally, wireless is not free, which is just plain cheap and annoying. We probably would not return to this hotel again -- although it possesses many great features, the drawbacks we experienced were too significant to ignore.

Room Tip: Make sure to request a room that does not face the atrium and call ahead to doublecheck your reserva...

First of all thank you for visiting our hotel and for posting your experiences after wards. This way we can continuously work hard to get better and meet all our guests expectations.

We would like to use this opportunity to avoid any misunderstandings. Wireless internet is free of charge for all guests. The password of the day can be collected from the front desk. The few rooms we have that face the lobby area is well air conditioned, but in order for this to work the windows need to be closed. Many of our regular guests prefer these rooms during the hot summer months. We apologize of course if the above information did not reach you during your stay with us.

The hotel sincerely hopes to welcome you back someday to improve your impression. Please let me know directly and I will arrange a greeting from the hotel at your room.

“great hotel bad location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

Hotel was very nice and staff were very friendly. Room was great and well designed. Breakfast is good with organic ingredients. I like it very much. The only disadvantage of the hotel is the location, 20 minutes to city centre.
