“Dirty, worn out and terrible service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2011

I have never experenced a larger mis-match between price and product. This hotel opened in 1991, and used to be known as cozy and personal. I stayed there in 2001 last time, and noticed that a refurbishment probably wasn´t far away. Now another 10 years later, the hotel is worn out, rooms are disaterous with dirty carpets, extremely dirty and dusty, bathrooms are full of soap and hair leftovers on the tiles, shower door so rusty that the tiles were brown.
We had ordered a double bed room, and got a 140-150 cm bed prepared for one person. No extra douvet or pillow in sight. Returned to the front desk and asked if this was a mistake, where the rude woman on duty said this was all they had, and we could find extra douvet and pillow wrapped in plastic bags in a locker room. No other rooms? No, just with 2 single beds - for another 100 NOK. They had already charged us 1480 NOK for the dirtiest extended single room ever. Where else do you pay 200 USD to sleep in a tiny room full of dust and dirt?

“Quiet, centrally placed nice hotel in Trondheim”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2010

Peaceful but still centrally situated hotel where it's easy to feel at home. I stayed almost a week at the hotel and found that I could sleep with the window open during the night without any disturbing traffic or other noise - wonderful. There is en evening buffet inkluded with a hot meal. I found both the Turkish bath and Finnish sauna very nice. I can highly recomend this hotel for everybody searching for a guiet and nice hotel. The only con I can come up with is that the cleanliness could have been some better. After all I will give the hotel a good score. I have already booked a weekend at the hotel for me and my wife.

“Good for single women”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

Quiet and central location. Evening buffet especially pleasant if you don't enjoy eating out alone in the evening. Narrow single bed, small, but clean rooms. Old Tv.

“Good choice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2010

Overall, I would call this a good choice. Not glamorous or chic, but good value for the money. With the North Sea oil, the Norwegian kroner is quite strong. Just to give you an idea, the worst example was that in the Oslo airport when we were leaving, one apple was 45 NK, which is about $8. That's by far the worst example, though. So back to the hotel, the advantage is that this hotel chain offers BOTH a free breakfast buffet and a free dinner buffet. It was by no means lavish, but very decent. They could have done a better job cleaning the room and replacing the wine in the mini bar, but we survived.

“Preserving the old wooden buildings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 May 2010

The best quality of this hotel is how it is quietly fitted into an entire block of mostly two-story, older, wooden buildings. An achievement architecturally, and an important contribution to preserving the wooden houses of Trondheim.
We stayed two nights in early May, travelling to Trondheim for a family reunion.
The double room we got was a bit small, the twin bed was positioned with one long side against the wall, but it worked. Our window looked out into a narrow alley, but otherwise everything was clean and pleasant. The breakfast hall in a former courtyard, now covered with a glass roof, is very nice. I liked the ecological breakfast, limited choice, but everything was good quality. Nice library/work area off the reception with PCs and internet access.
Reception staff was OK, but not exactly friendly. Location is perfect, central, yet very quiet.
Another plus for pets allowed (we brought our dog).
