Friendly staff made us feel very welcome. Perfect location in the middle of town, Even with parking.

Scandic hotels epitomise Scandanavian functionality. They are clean, modern and a little spartan, excellent toilet and shower room and overall very comfortable. The plus with the Scandic chain is the attached Egon Restaurant. While the meals are comparable to other chain restaurants such as Dennys, the breakfasts are both abundant, scrumptous and included in the price. There is American style cooked food, continental breakfast as well as a typically Norwegian buffet with salmon and herring as well as local cheeses and salamis. The hotel is situated with an entrance on a side street but an exit onto Markengate, the main pedestrian and shopping street, which links the park at the back of the town to the waterfront at the front.

This was the first hotel we stayed at on our tour of Norway.

We arrived at 12.30 in the morning after a long day. We were met by a friendly member of staff and quickly checked in.

Parking the car is a bit tricky at one in the morning not speaking the local lingo.

Great hotel does what it says clean modern can't ask for much more, anyone think of staying here will not be disappointed.

One point if staying in room 300 don't open the curtains until fully dressed. :)

I've stayed at the Scandic twice in the past year, both times for business trips of around a week. It is a fairly comfortable hotel; clean and well-kept. Rooms are about what one would expect from a European-style hotel. The heated floors in the bathrooms are a nice touch. The gym in the basement is a little difficult to get to, but is well-stocked with modern equipment and in good repair. The breakfast buffet was a highlight of every day. American travelers are not often treated to a buffet this complete while in Europe.

My only complaint is that the Internet service always seems a little spotty and/or slow. As a business traveler, I definitely wanted better in this department. A minor nit-pick, though.

I would definitely stay here again.
