“Fantastic location and hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

We arrived late, but our room were still not ready. This was a small flaw because the rest of our stay were perfect.

If there were one thing I would like to complain about it was the curtains in the bedroom, they did not keep the light out as a result we had sun when the sun rised at 0420. I am not a fan of sleeping in the light, I like it dark and cold. But this was a minor problem.

“Spoiled by loud music from the bar”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 May 2010

We had a short get-away weekend and chose to stay at this hotel based on their facilities and location. We did book a suite based on the text and pictures on the resort's website.

1) The suited turned out to be some different from the displayed pictures. They showed a suite with two-side panorama window, with larger living room. This type of suite, they have only two. We got a suite that only had the panorama window in front. This was a misleading publicity on their website.

2) Everything was fine, till I was waken up at 01.30 AM by very loud music from the bar. The suite was located topmost, with good airspace in between, and even a restaurant floor in between. The bar was located in the bottom. Even that, the music was so loud. I phoned to the reception, the only thing they could do was to close the door of the bar out to the balcony! I was so tired that I felt at sleep after a while. What a waste of the sleep quality.

3) The beer at the pool was not fully poured, and the price was astronomical.

4) The suite was nice with a lot of self-service equipment if needed. However, there was no sign of hotel bookleaf anywhere. We had to ask the reception for the needed information.

5) The pool facilities were nice, but it seemed like the lamps were gone here and there. Pity that the staff didn't bother to keep the quality better.

“Fantastic location, but not perfect...”

The very best with the resort is the view over the archipelago, which you also can enjoy from restaurantants and pools. It is a large complex of rooms, suites, holiday apartments. Quite crowded in sumer, other times of the year just very few guests - and it isn`t really fun to be 2 of perhaps 15 guests in an enormous dining area.

The budget rooms are very plain, but the beds very comfortable . Missed reading light at the bed. Had a look at the more expensive room which sure looked nicer...

Nice spa with outdoor/indoor pools. Treatments offered - however expensive (see pricelist at website) Golf and tennins course, gym.

Food is verygood! However it is set meals and no buffets when there are few guests.

The hotel is a bit away from nearest village, Kragerø - either 35 kms by car, or by ferry (infrequent) or taxiboat(rather expensive)

“Amazing experience!”

I was fortunate enough to stay at here during Easter. The spa facilities, contained within a single area, were wonderful. The indoor/outdoor pool overlooks the water to the city. The salt pool, sauna, steam room and other spa rooms were peaceful and relaxing. Our room was beautiful, light and airy. The staff accommodated our needs. Children are generally not allowed in the pool, although they were for our trip as it was a special weekend, but activities are provided for them while parents swim I am told. The restaurant breakfast was an excellent buffet of foods. Our dinner was a little of a disappointment as we hit Easter and the dinner was just one choice, but the food was well-prepared. All in all, a special time that I hope to repeat when back in Norway.

“Likely one of the best locations in Scandinavia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2009

I and 18 other guys went to the Quality Hotel Kragero to celebrate a close friend's bachelor party. We had paid for having 4 suites during the weekend, where everyone could stay the two nights we had our activitites.

The first thing that struck me when driving up to the main reception was how "Scandinavian" everything looked. The architectural style of this hotel/spa is something special, with a mix of concrete and wood being used to give a beautiful impression. The main building is placed on stilts, looking out over a fjord below. The view is quite spectacular and there are many locations, such as the breakfast/dinner area, pool area and other parts of the complex, where it is possible to just relax and enjoy everything below.

The hotel itself is (as far as I understood) divided into housing units that are either owned by the hotel or bought by private individuals and then rented out through the hotel. This means that anyone booking a stay at the hotel might find themselves in a "managed apartment/suite" which is owned by someone else. The 4 suites that I saw (as we moved around between them during our stay) were decorated with very nice furniture and other items, also with a bit of a "Scandinavian profile". Everything made us feel very much at ease, as the view in one direction (towards the fjord) was spectacular and we had a golf course on th other side.

We spent much time with our friend doing different activities and partying. During this time we saw much of the hotel complex, such as the golf course and spa/pool area. We also went down to the harbour (which belongs to the hotel) below and went water-skiiing. All the different parts of the hotel complex that we saw were well managed and of excellent quality.

My recommendation would be to get away to this place for a quiet weekend of golfing or just taking it easy. All of us that were there were really impressed and I would definitely go back again, but perhaps this time with my girlfriend instead!
