If your going stay in Arendal, stay at this hotel. Nice food, nice staff and scenic view.

I've stayed at Tyholmen many times and it's always a pleasure comming back. Service are terrific with friendly and helpful staff. Even though the older part of the hotel is somewhat tired, the rooms are spacious and clean. The newer part is great. View is lovely. Breakfast is very good with lots of varity.

Stayed here for two nights in Oct. 2011 - work-related, alone in room. The location is fantastic with panoramic view of the fjord. The rooms could need a brush-up though, but you can live with the some-what worn rooms due to the fab view. My room was spacious and bright, but I also think I had one of the more expensive rooms. Ask for a portable lamp if you're planning on working, as the lighting above the desk is partly dim. What really makes this hotel stand out, however, is (in addition to the vista) the excellent service. An over-all "yes"-attitude to all my requests, and they were quite a few. The food is good as well. Excellent breakfast, with plenty of ecological choice (try the Røros-butter), gluten-free cereal etc. Not too many choices on the menu for lunch and dinner, but really good quality on what is on offer. Fantastic Fish Soup!

Stayed here two times for a total of 6 nights.
Breakfast was excellent, and the location and the view from the rooms are great.
There's quite a noticeable hum from the AC in the hotel, so ask for a room in the east-wing - it's not so present there.
Friendly staff, and good standard.
