“Not as described - bathrooms mouldy, breakfast very basic”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2010

This is more like a student hostel than a B&B for business customers. My two colleagues and I all had rooms on the second floor with access to two shared bathrooms. No hairdryers or trouser press were evident, one room had no wardrobe or any place to hang clothes, no bedside light or mirror, another room had a large dark patch and hole in the ceiling. Beds were adequate. However the bathrooms require considerable updating. One bathroom had no heating and the washbasin didn't work as it was frozen. When this was reported we were told, "this is nothing unusual in Norway - it is cold". The second bathroom had two washbasins (working) one toilet and one shower which had no window or fan and was mouldy, although the water was hot. Breakfast was a choice of muesli or corn-flakes and pieces of chopped apple and orange. No yoghurts as advertised, no bread, toast etc.

The place is potentially pretty but is now quite run down and needs considerable investment in improving the rooms and facilities. Don't stay there till then.

“Disgusting and expensive”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2010

We travelled to Norway and stayed a total of 3 nights, 2 of these nights at the end of our trip. Our first room was large and comfortable. We had our own toilet but used shared bathrooms. These bathrooms were mouldy and very unclean. You could smell the mould as soon as you entered the bathroom.
Our last 2 nights, at the end of our trip, we were places in the basement in a very very tiny room. Even tho we had asked for a bigger room and were told this upon booking ( we were travelling with our 15 month old so we wanted the space). We then almost charged for the larger room. Although only 100 nok more, I wasnt going to let them get away with it.
Breakfast was cereal some brusied fruit, tea coffee and juice. We payed for much much better accommodation else where in Norway and got better service, a wonderful breakfast and a better experience.
Your website is misleading!!!!
Only positive thing is the location and access to public transport.
Glad we werent in Oslo to just stay in our room otherwise we would have gone mad.

“Nice period house and location, but tiny rooms and poor breakfast”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2010

Hi, I just spent a weekend in Oslo and stayed at this hotel. The place is clean, well located, though a bit outside the city centre, but well communicated by public transport. My room was tiny and poory furnished, the WLAN worked properly only on the first floor. The breakfast is really too simple and the toilets are not well furnished. I would choose another place with a bit more of service, better rooms and a regular continental breakfast for the price paid next time.
The recepcionist is however a lovely hard working lady.

“Not a hotel- more like a backpacker's”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

This place would be OK if you were expecting only backpacker-style facilites. The rooms are not cleaned, the "breakfast" is the worst i Norway (bread, coffee and OJ - until these things run outand there is no service to replace them). The bathrooms are all common but this gives you a choice of which one to use, so what will it be today, the shower where the whole room is perpetually underwater, the shower where the hose does not fit into the bracket, the one where the sink is full of light globes, or the one where you can't control the water - but that did not matter because it cycled hot and cold at random. Hang on to that little towel they give you, because it will not be changed during a 4-day stay, and there's no soap anywhere - I had to go out and buy a piece. Reception was not always manned, even when it should have been, and there are no telephones, except for the hotel's own phone, which cut out halfway through a very expensive reverse-charge call. It could have been so good, if the owners bothered to equip and service it properly.

“The worst place we have ever stayed in across EU, Asia and the US”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

We travelled to Norway to do the Midnight Sun Marathon in Tromso and needed somewhere to stay in Oslo the night before we went home. We booked separately from our friends, directly with the proprietors wheras our friends booked through a multi-hotel booking site. This place was recommended in Lonely Planet! Regardless, both rooms that were provided (and we asked for one of their best rooms) were the worst in the house, poky and our friends were in the basement and didn't even get a basin in their room (although our basin was smothered with grime anyway). Every room we checked (you could look at the vacant rooms or we saw into rooms when their occupants were vacating) seemed to have a tv except ours but the wardrobe in our room was filled with set top boxes for all the other guests' tvs! The shared bathrooms (there are no private bathrooms) were disgusting and I ended up using the basin in our room to wash. Breakfast was appalling, with stale cornflakes/muesli, some pieces of orange and apple, orange juice, yoghurt drink and tea and coffee. All the guests were really angry but we were all told that they don't serve their advertised breakfast on Sunday! I complained when we first arrived but the receptionist was unsympathetic and said they were full so there was no ability to move. Moreover, our friends had already paid so we couldn't move hotels! When I complained upon departure, another receptionist suggested that it wasn't full and that there are always ways to accommodate guests! When I handed over my card to pay, I found that they had already debited the card I have provided as security on the day we checked in and charged 100 NOK over the stated price in the email they sent me. I had to access my gmail account on their computer and print off the email before they would give me a refund. You may be ok at this hotel if you are allocated one of their better rooms, but is it worth the risk!!!!! We have travelled extensively and don't expect glitzy 5 star - but we do expect what has been described in the advertising and what we pay for! Beware!
