We only stayed in the hotel for one night, and one was more than enough. A Friday night, we had an early flight on the Saturday and so wanted to get an early(ish) night. 11pm there was music pumping through the hotel, a live band somewhere. We gave it another hour until 12, although I still consider a level of noise like that to be completely unacceptable in a hotel of the Bristol's rating at ANY time. More akin to a 2 star.
Past midnight, no change. I called reception and was politely informed it was a company do going on on the 2nd floor (we were on the 4th), and that the music wouldn't cease until 1am! The receptionist I spoke to was very apologetic, almost embarrassed and I sensed this was a common complaint. He offered earplugs, I took them. When he brought them to the room I asked if this was a common occurrence. I was met with an embarrassed and apologetic look, which said it all. It seems the management have been informed of the guests complaints a number of times, over a year's worth, and yet nothing had been done.
So, company events are more important, it seems, than paying guest's comfort and satisfaction. Fine. Here's my rating as a result!
I would never consider staying in this hotel again. As helpful as the staff were, the standard is well beneath the price and rating. Very poor. Avoid. I'll certainly be advising my colleagues and friends do so.
