“Perfect location and good price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

Located in the centre, close to the sentral station and to everything. Stayed for three days on the 6th floor with room facing the street. Street with a lot of movement during weekends but no problem with sleeping. Nice and clean, good breakfast buffet and all over nice. Some TV channels did not work, but I did not complain so I do not know if it was a periodic or local problem for that room.

Room Tip: If you sleep well, noise is no problem, if not, ask for a room not facing the street. Single rooms a...

“Staff and location saves the overall..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

I stayed for only one night with friends. We were all put on the loft (in single rooms) and it was rather disappointing. I knew I couldn't expect much from a previous stay. But earlier the room was at least spacious, although cold and rather uninvting in itself. Just to illustrate; there has not been spent a single kroner on pictures or the like. This room was the same, but now it was not even spacious. Especially the bathroom reminds me more of what will be offered in the lowest standard cabins on the ferries to Denmark for those who know these..

Staff at first seemed uninterested in their guests, but proved themselves very accomodating when I had a special request. They are a bit on the young side and could do with a bit more training though..

Location is really excellent though. Close to most things, but in particular transport.

Breakfast is alright, but not more. Changing egg and bacon for scrambled eggs and meatball/sausages is rather a strange move. And a bit larger selection in some areas would be nice. But all acceptable and cleanliness of the buffet and dining room is good..

At almost 800 for the night, I am uncertain if it's worth the sum..

Room Tip: Top floor has really small rooms since it's a loft. I believe rooms facing the street could be r...

“Disappointing features”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

The hotel is VERY conveniently located a block or so from Oslo S station and easy to find. However, I suppose I have got used to hotels in the UK, elsewhere in Europe and Southern Africa. The room is very clean though somewhat basic - more like a student dorm room than a hotel - but then this is a budget hotel. On registration I tried to pay in cash up front to be told that I would have to pay an extra deposit if I pay in cash. It had been my intention to get some change by paying cash but had instead to pay by credit card. Then it turns out that reception does not have change at all so I am unable to make use of the snack machine at reception - owing to my flight I have arrived late in the evening, am very wet from being caught in a cloud burst while waiting for the train from one of the airports and unfamiliar with the surrounds in terms of whether there is any open food outlet to be had at this time of night, and loathe to venture out in the rain again as a lone women when I am so uncertain of the terrain. No kettle or coffee provided in the room - coffee only available from a machine at reception. Reception did not answer their phone when called - I had a query re the (thankfully free) wifi - for I found I had to get the network name from reception though the login is printed in the key folder - so had to put wet clothes back on and return to reception and there wait until other late coming guests were registered - the system is VERY slow but I see from a note in the lift that tomorrow a new registration system is to be installed which might improve the speed. There is also only one (pleasant) staff member at reception so only one person at a time can be dealt with. I am tired, thirsty and hungry and a little fed up generally. Perhaps an early buffet breakfast in the morning will cheer me up as another reviewer has suggested that the breakfast is 'great'..

Room Tip: The room I have is very quiet though I have no idea what side I am on as it is dark. Quite a long co...

“Very surprised”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

We stayed here for one night and our first night of our Europe trip. Its nothing much to look at on the outside but the staff were friendly and the room clean and comfortable. We were upgraded to a family room so I guess we were lucky as we got more space. It was on the front street and yes there was noise but if you stay in the city on a road you have to accept that. We were find and quite liked the noise of the city outside. The breakfast was good and all in all we enjoyed our stay. Hotels in Oslo are expensive and so was this one really so we were glad we were not disapointed.

This hotel is close to the train and bus terminal. Close to city centre and attractions. Cheap. Rooms are small but very clean. Free Wi-fi. Great breakfast!!!
What I don´t like - view is poor, very noisy street until 3 a.m. (Fri, Sat) - earplugs don´t help, hotel guests take prostitutes inside.
