Stayed in one of the single bed rooms on a weekday (thursday-friday). The room itself was spotless and fairly recently renovated (I'd estimate within the last 5 years) and had a modern flat screen TV that I for once made use of as I was traveling along. The selection of channels was pretty meager, but OK (10 TV channels + lots of expensive PPV channels). My only problem with the room was that there was a constant draft of cold air from underneath the window, which was solved by closing the curtains. Despite this the room was never too cold (just perfect for sleep).
The bathroom was reasonably clean, but there was some kind of congealed liquid on the wall underneath the sink that looked like vomit (might have been something else though and I did not give it much thought). Parts of the bathroom were showing its age, like the toilet lid that had some visible wear, the aforementioned sink, and the bathroom ceiling has probably seen better days. Not really a problem, it's an affordable hotel after all. I also had some serious problems getting a good temperature in the shower. At first it's icy cold, so I adjusted the temperature knob gradually towards the warm end and just when I thought it was perfect it suddenly got almost scoldingly hot. I ended up having to move the knob all the way back to cold (I've got the same faucet at home, so I know for a fact that this was all wrong).
Due to some crime issues in Oslo the last few years, getting up to the rooms requires you to use the room key. I don't remember if this was just the elevator or the stairs as well. There's also a standard hotel safe in the room. Safety should not be much of a concern while staying here.
I slept well (completely uninterrupted sleep from 2 to 9). Some more sounds from traffic outside beyond that, which made sleeping in late more difficult. The bed was comfortable and the duvet and pillow(s) seemed fairly fresh and were not lumpy or otherwise uncomfortable. Almost like sleeping at home.
I did not try the breakfast or dinner, as traditional Norwegian food is not my favorite and there's plenty of other options in the area. If that's your thing, though, I think they do it very well.
The location is good (close to public transportation, shopping streets, there's a convenience store just across the street and a grocery store just one block away etc), except it's Oslo. I wouldn't go to Oslo unless I had to.
Chek-in and check-out went smoothly.
Overall, I'm satisfied with the stay, but not exactly impressed. Some minor issues which IMO are to be expected at such an affordable hotel.
Room Tip: The hotel seems to offer room upgrades for a reasonably small amount of money, which I think are mor...
