“Not very central”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

This hotel was part of our tour through Norway. Easy to find by car, once you know the way. Traffic around Oslo was pretty hectic on account of many road works and renovations. Anyway parking was free in front of the hotel. Reception staff were helpful and friendly. Getting to the centre of Oslo took some time.
Hotel was okay, but no more than that. Nice room. Hallways did not seem very well cleaned. But is only for one night. Breakfast on the other hand was very good. If you come by car this hotel should be a good choice, otherwise look for somewhere more central.

“I can not find a single thing to criticice”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2010

We booked the hotel through hotels.com a week before. We choosed this hotel because it is free breakfast, and free parking, and I know it is easy to reach everything in Oslo by car from this hotel (I was taxidriver in Oslo under my study, but lives now in Estonia). We called the hotel some days before to tell we wood come late on the first day (friday evening), and since my partner have not been to often in my hometown asked I if we cood get a room with wiev. We got a fantastic room in 6th floor, with pretty wiev, The room was perfect cleaned. The shower and bathroom was big and easy to use - also for my lifepartner that is a biiig lady (5XL). The bed was fantastic to sleep in, and she normally strugle with bad beds on hotels and boats. This bathroom was big and good. The hole room was pretty decorated, and had this fantastic panoramawiev. if you ask for window in direction the city, can you as us park the car so you can hear the alarm. Another thing is that I do not think any will do a burglery in a low criminal-area beside the main officebuilding to the Norwegian criminal police (only office and laberatory, no public wissitors, or uniformed cars with sirenes).
The hotelstaff was pleasent, and serviceminded. They really tryed to improve. Shall I finde anythingh to criticize is it that boiling a cup of tea or coffee in the room cost around 3$ for a simple tea-bag, but that is commond for Norway. We had a buisnesspartner of me for breakfast on sunday, and for his full breakfast did I only pay 22$, that is really cheap for being Norway.
I HAD GIVEN MORE THEN 6 POINT, IF THAT HAD BEEN POSSIBLE
This will be my main hotell in Oslo, from now on . Central, and free parking, and a good breakfast. Free internet was also a pluss, also on the room - and we used 2 mashines at the same time.
For me is it important to know what I shall pay for parking or breakfast, and that is normally not mentioned in the homepages to hotels in expensive Norway. 24 houre in a parkinghouse in Oslo can easy cost you 120$, and that is money. To waith 10-15 minute while a teenager-boy shall drive out your car from the parkinghouse is not the hotels I prefer. Then is Helsfyr a perfect place for us that travel with cars. It is also 5 minute walk to the underground - Underground in Oslo is easy to find, just look afther poles with a White and blue lamp marked with "T. Only 10 minute to the downtown.
It was a soccerteam with younger boys teenagers there when we was there, and it was still so quite and not noicy. This hotelrooms is so quite and nice, and we cood not feel a group of boys tells this hotel is perfect soundprotected. Here can you sleep and relax without any noice will disturbe you.
Mention also that I recomend this hotel, and normally am i mutch better to criticise then to give compliments.
The Rica group have reasson to be proud of this hotel, and this good staff.

“OK - Free Wifi - Food & Drink expensive as its Norway”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

Typical clean modern euro-ish hotel.
Hotel itself is reasonable value.
Food and Drink is very expensive, but thats Norway.
Example: 43Kroner for a small bottle diet coke - I make that nearly £5 ?

Free Wifi is a necessity.
From the airport use the SAS bus (there are a few different bus services from the airport)
Helsfyr stop is approx 5th stop, approx 45 mins from the airport. costs 140NKr

“terrible security!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2010

I availed a room reservation in Rica Helsfyr Hotel during my delegation on the 20th European Meeting on Hypertension (June 18- 21, 2010).I am very displeased and disappointed with the services that the staffs have shown during my stay specially the security of the hotel. What happened is that on the 19th of June during the opening ceremony of the conference, someone forcedly enters our room and took all our things (such as bags and laptop).

They cut my bag but fortunately they didn’t stole anything. But my colleagues have lost all their laptops, cell phones, camera and wallet. The thieves even took the courage to open five rooms. In spite of this, the management does not take any effort to pose legal actions on what happened and to bring back the stolen things. The authorities just look at our accommodation afterward; they did not perform any further investigations and actions.

“Ok business hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2005

I stayed at the hotel for one night in November 2005 during a business trip. The hotel seems kind old. The rooms defiantly needs some restoration and especial the bathrooms, it is however clean and the beds are good. The hotel is located outside the city center so you are dependent on taxi or public transportation if you want to go in to the city. Breakfast are very good whit a big buffet. Dining and lunch are very expensive (even compared to Norwegian prices), but good. Free broadband internet connection is a plus.
