I travelled here for a one-week work assignment in Oslo city at end of October 2011. Chose this hotel largely because of price-plus-location. Location is central and easy walking to shops, bars, restaurants and all things usual for a city centre. Rooms are certainly small, but having travelled extensively in the UK this wasn't a surprise and room facilities are quite modern and workable for a single person. Criticisms elsewhere of size of beds sounds like "giants complaining" as this hotel has very comfortable, standard-sized singles. Availability of free wireless internet is a huge bonus after visiting a number of major chain hotels elsewhere in Europe charging rip-off.prices for WiFi. As a consequence, I have rated the room highly based on what it provides despite its size.
Breakfast is huge ... so many opportunities for multiple courses that weekend breakfasting particularly is a pleasure. My advice - eat out or buy takeaway snacks in one of the nearby DeliFrance or 7/11 types of stores. In-hotel food is expensive and getting food delivered to the room very much the same. $40 for a pizza? Get real and learn to eat small and take advantage of that large breakfast.
By the way, absolutely NO noise from the nearby Irish-type pub on Saturday evening, although you might try asking for a non-street-facing room to be sure of this.
