The staff was very friendly Close to the center,the subway and next to the Flybussen stop (bus t.o the airport). Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Breakfast is excellent, big choice and fresh products. Room too hot.

I had to travel to Oslo last September for a two-day business meeting and we decided to go together and stay for the weekend to get to know the city. Given how amazingly expensive Norway is, we were looking for a central but reasonably-priced accomodation. We opted for the Rica Holberg and it was the right decision.

This hotel is located in downtown Oslo, barely a 15-minute walk from the main train station, where you can take the shuttle train to the airport. We walked to all the attractions we visited, but the hotel is also conveniently located on a streetcar line. There are a few good, cheap restaurants in the surroundings too.

This being a budget business hotel, our room was small, but quite comfy and bright. The bed was good, and the Ikea-style furniture modern and well-maintained. The free wi-fi signal worked flawlessly.

The excellent breakfast buffet offered a large selection of cold meats, cheese, fruits, breads. Beware though: when they say service ends at 10 a.m., they mean it!

All in all, we were very pleased with this hotel, which offered a good value for a very reasonable rate (well, reasonable in Norway).

We booked this hotel while in Oslo, as we wanted to move to a safer location (from Thon Hotel Spectrum) We got great rates on the room, staff were friendly, the location is very central, right beside the tramline and walking distance to the Palace/ city / restaurants etc. The room was modern and very clean. The buffet breakfast catered for all needs and was fresh every morning, with the option to buy a packed lunch which you make yourself from the buffet.

Good value for money (especially for Oslo!) and convenient location. A bit disappointed as we chose a "superior" room based on the photos from the hotel's website showing a sitting area. The room was actually much smaller and there was no sitting area. We asked for a room with a balcony and were given a room on the first floor overlooking a side street. We stayed over Christmas and there were very few guests in the hotel, so would have expected to have been given one of the better rooms. The room and bathroom with modern fixtures (shower only) were impeccably clean. Nice to have the heated floor in the bathroom during winter. The breakrfast is wonderful with a huge selection of scandinavian fare (smoked fish), fresh fruit salad and the lovely surprise of a "shot" of a freshly made smoothie (with fresh ginger) and delightfully presented verrine with cereal, fromage frais and raspberries. There is a choice of scrambled or fried eggs with bacon, sausage and potatoes. The staff at reception and in the restaurant are efficient and friendly. Oslo is a very expensive city - the Holberg is great value for money. We would discourage anyone considering visiting Oslo at Christmas. The city shut downs completely. If you are not in one of the big hotels then there is no where to have dinner - all the restaurants close for Christmas eve. A few of the convenience stores are open so you can get a sandwich to take out, not our idea of a Christmas Eve dinner.
