“Decent and convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Oslo is not a hotbed of great hotels, and my four-star rating reflects the relative quality of hotels in Oslo, not in the Nordic region. Still, the Plaza is not a bad place to stay. This hotel is connected to the train station by a footbridge...extremely convenient, though the signage in the central station isn't very helpful.

Service was helpful and friendly; room service was timely (though note that they stop serving at 11pm).

Not the kind of place I'd choose for a romantic holiday, but a solid choice for business travelers.

Room Tip: The higher the better.

“Good location, nice room, excellent view from the 29th floor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

I stayed in this hotel for a night and I think the rooms were well layed out and equiped well - infact the room had a Nespresso machine to make coffee with.

If I have to stay in downtown oslo again in then I hope to do so in this hotel.

Breakfast was very scandinavian, but with a good selection of foods.

“Better than Blu Scandinavia”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

After a bad stay at the Radisson Blu Scandanavia lat year I decided to try the Plaza. It is a much nicer hotel across the board. I have discovered that hotels in Oslo are lacking in most regards so view the four stars differently from other major European capitols - lower your expectations. The Plaza has a nicer lobby, better rooms, and better food. The a employees are actually nice unlike at the Scandanavia. The airport train is a 5 minute walk so very convenient for travelers. Co-workers told me the Plaza was not in a great neighborhood but you take cabs everywhere in Oslo so I never had a worry nor was I uncomfortable walking around alone during the day. The gym at the hotel is strange. I was there in January and the gym was freezing, Nice view in the gym but one elliptical, two treadmills and a bike in a wierd slanted roof configuration. Nevertheless I would stay here again and certainly it is preferable to the Scandanavia.

“Not the level of service you would expect”

We stayed at this hotel for one night for convenience as it's right by Oslo train station, and we were getting an early flight the next morning.

I haven't stayed in any Radisson hotels before, but had the expectation that it would be comfortable and service would be slick and efficient. However, we had a few issues as soon as we arrived which quickly became irritating.

On arrival into our room, we immediately noticed a nasty smell (cross between drains & curry!) so I called down to reception and they agreed to send someone up to move us. Second room looked fine on initial inspection, but we then noticed there was only a single duvet on the double bed. Called down again - receptionist apologised and said he thought there was only a single traveller (?). A lady came up to change the duvet for us, all good. Then went to have a shower and noticed no curtain up - I assumed that it was one of those quick dry heated floors that so many places in Norway have, but no: whole bathroom immediately soaked, including toilet, which you could pretty much step into from the shower! Rang down again, this time a bit annoyed - receptionist very apologetic and said we could move to a business class room.

This was a nice gesture (although to be honest, the room was identical - only difference is free films and bathrobes) but when we got to the new room, noticed AGAIN no double duvet on bed and 1 bathrobe. Called again - same lady came to replace our duvet (looking slightly perplexed to see us again in another room!) and bathrobe.

It was about 2 hrs later by the time this had been rectified. I was exhausted from travelling and had just wanted to relax and go to bed, but we spent a lot of time either moving rooms or waiting for staff to come and replace items. Not impressed with the service and probably won't stay at any Radissons again.

“Great hotel”

This was a great hotel, close to central station & T Bane. Stayed in a standard room on 20th floor with great view over the city & fiords, with heated flooring in bathroom & towel rack. Breakfast buffet you could not fault, with a great choice of food to suit all tastes. Staff very helpful, especially Stale the Consierge, who gave a great deal of assistance in terms of things to do, transport options & reasonably priced restaurants - this all came with a smile, nothing was too much trouble. We didn't experience any problems with the free Internet during the 5 nights of our stay. Would highly recommend going to see the Biathlon in Holmenkollen - very cold but a great experience. Would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return again next year.

Room Tip: We didn't upgrade to business room which I believe occupy floors 24 plus, but was placed on floo...
