I've been staying in Arbins gate during a period of 5 months in a business matter. The locations is great, I absolutely love it, but the standard is not at all what you could expect from a hotel in the same price range as Hilton hotel. There is a breadish smell in the room which has been impossible to get rid of. Cooking possibilities are very limited (no microwave, no oven, frying pan is dented and all kitchen utencils are Ikea's cheapest). The fridge is noisy and the freezing box doesn't work (I got some food ruined during my first week). Towels are well worn and have holes in the fabric. Vacuum cleaner was useless, even after hotel staff said they fixed it, so I had to buy one my self at Clas Ohlson (same price as getting room cleaned one time by hotel cleaning staff). Fire alarm goes off some times but there's no automatic connection to the fire brigade or hotel reception in Skovveien so you have to call them to let them know their house might be on fire! Sounds from corridor like foot steps, voices and slamming doors, are heard very well in the room and can be disturbing during nighttime (especially in the weekends). Waste collection happens 3 times a week at around 6 in the morning and will probably wake you up. Floor is a bit slippery so the beds keeps sliding apart unless you tie them together (I have done so). Internet connection has been unrealiable last 2 months and bandwidth is usually too poor to allow Skype phone calls with web camera.
If you can live with these things, the location is like I said absolutely perfect. Train station, subway, trams, busses and restaurants are just around the corner. Beds are really comfy and the generous ceiling height gives the apartment a luxurious appearance. TV has plenty of channels and storing possibilities (closet and space under the beds) is pretty good. Laundry facilities in basement is free of charge. I however made sure my visiting friends and family chose another hotel.
