The room I got was very small. The bed was only 90 cm wide and the bathroom was very small. The good thing was that the room was newly refurbished.

Perfect base for exploring Oslo. The location could hardly be better than this - walking distance from the airport train (get off at the Nationalteatern station), main street Karl Johan, National Gallery, a variety of shops, restaurants, cafés, all just round the corner. Opposite the hotel entrance a tempting Design Forum selling modern Norwegian crafts - highly recommended!

Arrived late from a flight, after 9 p.m., a little hungry and tired, and was positively surprised to get offered a hearty evening snack (sandwich plus salad), delivered to my room (free of extra charge). Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Room smallish but ok, modern design with some personal design touch, comfortable bed, modern TV. No noises from corridoor/outside/other rooms disturbed my sleep. Breakfast with lots of choice. Stayed one night only on a business trip but would surely consider coming here another time on a private trip to Oslo.

The hotel was not very special. Inside it looked a bit scruffy and old with small rooms.
The staff at the desk was very helpful though. And there was free interenet access which worked well. The location was good.

Everything in Oslo is expensive, very expensive. So at an objective level nothing can be described as good value.
However within those constraints, and bearing in mind that if I had been left any longer in my microscopic room, complaints could have been made to European Court of Human Rights, the Savoy Hotel was not bad.
When I checked in I could see the sympathy on the face if the very helpful girl at check in when she saw my room number. However the hotel did have a very pleasant and spacious residents lounge at the very top of the building where there were buffet snacks available in the early evening. If you weren't starving this was adequate for an evening meal.
Breakfast was included and was very good.
