I didnt know this was the no 1 hotel in Oslo when i booked it but i can easily understand why!

Everything from the location, the room, the cleaning, the evening meals and of the staff was absolut great! The front desk was having two receptionists, despite the small size of the hotel, keeping the checkins and outs speedy and both times they really made you feel welcome.

My only suggestion would be for the management to change the cheap plastic furnitures on some balconys (i assume upgraded rooms) as they look a bit tacky

We had a great stay at this hotel, the rooms are very beautiful and have modern comfortable bathrooms. The breakfast was located in the really nice restaurant and was very tasteful and had a lot of choice.

Stayed at the Clarion Folketeateret for 2 nights while in Oslo with work. Hotel conveniently located 2-3 min walk from train station where airport express train arrives/leaves from.

Rooms are a reasonable size, and fairly recently renovated.

Breakfast (buffet with lots of choice), evening soup/salad buffet and wifi included. Tea/coffee and fruit available throughout the day. While the evening buffet might not be the best food in Oslo, it's very reasonable and extremely convenient if travelling alone with work and you don't fancy venturing out. Decent selection of wines and beers available to purchase with the buffet too.

Gym a reasonable size with 2 bikes and 3-4 running machines as well as weight machines and a fair amount of space for mats.

Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Only down side was my room was very warm despite setting the thermostat to a low temperature and the air conditioning unit was noisy, so bring ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. On a plus note, better to be warm than cold in Oslo and the rooms were really well sound proofed.

I'll definitely stay here again.

Tips:
- All in one shower gel/shampoo/conditioner in bathroom which left my hair dry and out of control! Would recommend bringing your own shampoo/conditioner.
- No body lotion in rooms, so again would recommend bringing your own if needed
- May be worth pre-booking a cab to the office in bad weather. There were none available for booking at 8.30-9am when I asked reception to do this for me.

Great location, lovely room with nice decor and terrace, a bit small, but hey, I did not go for a superior room. The staff whas very friendly, and if you what an authentic, very good Italian meal, head next door to the Cantina Cortina. I am going to Oslo tomorrow, and guess what, I'm gonna give the hotel a call and ask for another night at the Folketheateret, my new favorite in Oslo...:-) Nils W, Norway
