“Awesome views, comfortable stay, friendly service, great breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

Stayed here for one night in September 2011, and I chose this place based on reviews here on TripAdvisor. It was definitely worth it. This guest house is located on a somewhat steep hill, a couple of hundred meters from the main road which goes through the city centre. The room was very nice - perhaps a bit small for some, but for me it was perfect, with a very comfortable bed, a newly renovated bathroom, a big flatscreen tv, and above all, a magnificent view over the town and the fjord. The guest house was very quiet although there were many people staying there, so the isolation seems to be in good order. The breakfast is hard to beat - the view from the sitting room with a panorama view of the town is just as good as everything the breakfast itself offers, trust me on this one. Too bad that I only had the opportunity of staying here one night, I wouldn't have minded to extend the stay more, since nature offers plenty to see around Narvik.

“Noisy pipe, great view, good location, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

Our room, and I think only our room, had a pipe within the wall that buzzed and vibrated whenever anyone turned on water, or flushed a toilet, in the hotel. That really needs to be repaired, and maybe it has been by the time you read this. The hotel staff were aware of the problem.
The rooms facing Narvik, and the breakfast room, have a great view of the town.
The hotel is within walking distance of the town, the Red Cross Museum, and the train station.
Lonely Planet recommends taking a scenic train ride from Narvik into Sweden and back. The station in Sweden is at a winter resort that was deserted in June; absolutely nothing was open. To make matters worse, the Swedish railway cancelled the return trip and we waited 2 1/2 hours for a bus.

Room Tip: Ask about the buzzing pipe; they know which room it is.

“Friendly B&B with a good breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 June 2011

We spent 3 days here during a blizzard in March 2011. The rooms are relatively modern, quite small but quiet and ours had an interesting view of the industrial town of Narvik. The owner and receptionists were friendly and helpful (especially when our train to Stockholm was cancelled). The breakfast was very good. Be warned that the hotel is directly up a steep hill from the town centre - it was a challenge to drag our bags up the icy paths.

Whilst in Narvik we spent 2 days skiing on the downhill ski slopes; very low key, great snow but unfortunately the bad weather meant that the majority of lifts were not open. However we had the slopes to ourselves for much of the day and we would recommend it especially if the full ski area is accessible.

“Nice hotel, good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2010

Stayed in Narvik for two nights. The rooms in this hotel are small and basic but comfortable and clean. Good breakfast in a lovely dining-room. The hotel is within walking distance of everything in Narvik. It's up a hill and there's a great terrace with fantastic views. Nice living-room where they put tea and coffee out in the evenings. The staff are extremely nice and helpful. Free wifi throughout. Would definitely recommend.

“Basic, clean and central”

Stayed at hotel after reading review on Tripadvisor. We were staying overnight in Narvik prior to flying out the following morning at Evenes airport (Harstead/Narvik). We had been whale watching in Tysforjd - excellent!
Although Norway is very expensive I expected more for the cost of a room. Our room was very small and basic. Basically there were two single beds, coffe table between them, a TV and small bathroom with shower. No room to hang any clothes or sit and read a book. We were forced to go out whether we wanted to or not!
The staff were friendly and breakfast is in a nice room with excellent views over Narvik. There is no restaurant so we decided to eat out.
The hotel is situated at the top of a very steep road. This road leads to the centre of Narvik. However, do not stay here in winter if you intend walking to town. The path and road from the hotel was treacherous! We had to hold on to eachother to stop falling over on the ice. We are young and fit and still found it difficult.
If I was to stay in Narvik again I would consider the youth hostel (nearby and closer to the centre - the rooms couldn't be smaller than ours and I am sure the price would be better!). Alternatively the Quality Inn would be an even better option. This is located in the centre.

  • Liked — Nice breakfast room with good views over Narvik
  • Disliked — Room - much too small for two people
