Stayed at hotel after reading review on Tripadvisor. We were staying overnight in Narvik prior to flying out the following morning at Evenes airport (Harstead/Narvik). We had been whale watching in Tysforjd - excellent!
Although Norway is very expensive I expected more for the cost of a room. Our room was very small and basic. Basically there were two single beds, coffe table between them, a TV and small bathroom with shower. No room to hang any clothes or sit and read a book. We were forced to go out whether we wanted to or not!
The staff were friendly and breakfast is in a nice room with excellent views over Narvik. There is no restaurant so we decided to eat out.
The hotel is situated at the top of a very steep road. This road leads to the centre of Narvik. However, do not stay here in winter if you intend walking to town. The path and road from the hotel was treacherous! We had to hold on to eachother to stop falling over on the ice. We are young and fit and still found it difficult.
If I was to stay in Narvik again I would consider the youth hostel (nearby and closer to the centre - the rooms couldn't be smaller than ours and I am sure the price would be better!). Alternatively the Quality Inn would be an even better option. This is located in the centre.
