I stayed in this hotel at the beginning of July for four days. The rooms are very basic, and not especially clean. You could see a lot of dust under the bed and even some dust clusters in the corners had not been cleaned during our stay. The hotel has a small area for parking (for extra charge) at the back on the ground level. That area is open to the street - anyone strolling along the pathway can walk in. What was my surprise when I saw - right there, in the parking garage - trolleys with clean linens and towels standing there, every day of our stay! Apparently, they use it as a sort of storage area for linens. I think this is not acceptable.
The staff is generally friendly and helpful within the limits of what they can do. Breakfast is crampled, and the selection is decent, but the quality is cheap.
Every day we saw one or another tour bus pull up to the hotel in the evening, discharge about 50 to 100 passengers - from all sorts of countries - to stay at Rica hotel overnight. This seems to be the main source of clients for the hotel - a tour group stopping there on its long winding journey along the Norwegian coastline. As a result, at times, the lobby is packed with these tourists like sardines in a can, and the same applies to the breakfast room. If you manage to find the time when they are gone, it is much better.
I have not stayed in other hotels in Bodo, so it would be hard for me to compare Rica to the prevailing standard in the area. Looking just at the buildings, it appears to be not very high. That said, the glowing reviews on this board of this hotel are certainly exxagerated, in my opinion.
