“Convenient location, great service and value. It works!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Booked a package with BA Holidays. Got 4th night free.
Had stayed there several times 10 to 5 years ago on business, this time privately.
Plus points.
1) If you learn to use the trams, couldn't be more convenient, stop just outside, but buy a Vienna Pass.
2) 15/20 minute enjoyable stroll to the centre by foot. (Walking though Karlplatz gets a bit boring though!)
3) Extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful reception staff.
4) Comfortable well equiped rooms. Not super-luxurious in the opulent sense, but as a 'Conran designed'-read minimilistic hotel it provides the all the basics and the rest. Apple iMacs a nice touch.
5) Breakfast better than average. Had the impression everything freshly prepared that morning, spoiled for choice. Included in price.
6) Bar small but comfortable, but watch out, everyone seems to smoke in public places everywhere in Vienna.

Negatives/niggles
1) Public areas, particularly the corridors on the room floors, a bit tired. Could do with a lick of paint.
2) Nice idea to feature TV channels on the Apple iMac, but only if they work! BBC channels didn't. Although didn't really care (not there to watch TV), having mentioned fault to reception a couple of times, nothing improved. In these days of technology, not beyond the wit of man to fix these issues.

Both small issues, overall most enjoyable stay, would certainly go back.

Room Tip: Inward facing better, not street facing. The rumble of trams would disturb the light sleeper.

“Average hotel, definitely can not be categorized as a design hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

The hotel as a building and location is far below our expectations. It is categorized as a five star design hotel but I have to say that that is just an average two or three star hotel.

Negative:
-The hotel design is extremely minimalistic that you do not feel staying in a five star hotel.
-The rooms are very small.
-The bathroom as a whole is very poor and old fashioned. Nothing works properly.
-The housekeeping is not doing their job efficiently. For example they took the dirty towels but did not put the new ones!
-The hotel is exactly 20 minutes by walk from the city center, not 5 or 10 minutes. Also, you may not feel comfortable around the hotel area if you arrive late.
-Overall if you think of the price and quality aspect; I would choose to pay some more and stay at Do&Co or Radisson which are located in the heart of the city.

Positive:
-The staff are extremely helpful. They are always there and help you for everything.
-The breakfast is okey
-Internet in the rooms are perfect.
-Complimentary chocolates are nice.

“Stylish, quiet, and well-located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

Although the hotel is beginning to show its age a bit (probably 25 years since its development), it remains a wonderfully comfortable and interesting choice of hotels in Vienna. The location is within sight of Karlsplatz and well-connected with trams. MIchel was at the reception when we arrived and later during our stay. He and other staff were incredibly well informed and helpful. Because we paid a special rate (Euro 59 per night) breakfast was not included. The rooms are comfortable and very well designed. The garden is a particularly pleasant and attractive space.

“Nice small design hôtel in Vienna”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2011

Very pleasant hôtel near Karlplatz. Beautifull bedrooms, efficient free wifi access, nice and English speaking personnel, and, Keita. Keita, is THE barman of Das Triest. Do not stay at Das Triest without passing by Keitas's bar. Keita makes wonderfoul delighting cocktails in a true Charlie Brown movie ambiance.

“Wonderful loaction, service and value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 March 2011

Booked a "package" with BA.com - excellent value hotel. The room we had was supurb - yes there are trams passing and very frequent intervals but it is a city! The location is ideal for the city. Service and attention at breakfast was first rate, the food was high quality and excellent choice. We ate in on one night and whilst the price was high it was excellent value with good food, well presented and attentive service.

Room Tip: Take a kettle!
