i'm a regular customer of hotel cryston in vienna since the late 1980s. hotel is extremely clean, family run, offering a wonderful and plentiful buffet breakfast, rooms are large enough as bathrooms are. hotel is NOT central, however perfectly linked by U4 subway to the center. it only takes 5 min to reach the opera house and the ring from the front-facing station. hotel is also halfway between center and schoenbrunn palace (around 10min journey).
UPS: perfectly managed, very clean, confortable rooms, lift, great breakfast, TV, reasonable rates, soundproof rooms, few minutes subway link to central vienna.
DOWNS: some kitsch sissi-austrian-fairytale décor, probably unavoidable in vienna... some retro 1970s-80s remains of furniture. unwalkable distance to central vienna. uninspiring neighborhood.
