We had no problems with the room itself (quiet and spacious), and breakfast was OK but not fabulous. The issue was the daytime receptionist, who must have been the most unfriendly person in the country. He didn't seem happy to see us when we checked in, gave terribly vague directions to the Post Office upon enquiry "on the street, and left", but the absolute worst was being told off by him on two occasions. The hostel did not have WiFi so we were forced to use the communal computer, next to the reception desk. We were told to "be quiet" when we had to raise our voices to be heard over the blaring radio. Then we were told "it's 15 minutes maximum per person" despite the fact that no one was around the lobby waiting to use the computer (besides we were only halfway through an email). The only saving grace was the nighttime receptionist, who spoke little English but got us fresh towels upon request.

The hotel is, actually, a complex of buidlings. Very large rooms. Very large baths. In the room we had another bed, besides the two for which we paid, and the bill was not charged with the third bed. Silence in the rooms. TV, of course. Refrigerator. New furniture. For the bathroom, better you have your own toilet paper and soap - they are not quite replaced. Very decent breakfast. Expect to carry your bag on stairs, because they do not have elevator. The area in which hotel is situated is decent, a tram station is 2 minutes walking from the hotel. The way to get out to the city centre is to the left when exit, straight ahead, - around 20 minutes walking, and to the right, another 20 minutes by the Wolkstheater.

Management and Staff

On arrival the receptionist treated us correct but was not terribly friendly, her English wasn't too good. The check in went good. Payment by card was possible and went correct and without problems. Also the other receptionists were not always friendly, for example we were thrown out of the lobby one day for talking while the receptionist had to work...

The people who have to take care of the breakfast were okay, you actually hardly notice them.

Location

The location of the hotel is convenient, it's close to the tramstation of line 43, which brings you to U-Bahn at Karlzplatz. You can reach the tramstation in just a 5 minutes walk. Then you need a 10 minutes trip by tram and you're actually close to all the sights of central Vienna.

Bedrooms

The room was actually huge, it's more like an appartment, though it has no kitchen. It has a little living room with a sofa and there's a table with 4 chairs. The room had space for 5 people, eventhough we were just 4. The room was renovated, though the closets were not extremely stable. The room was taken care of and clean, though they are very tight with the toiletpaper.

Food

The breakfast was good, There's different kinds of bread, ham and cheese, jam, pate, cream cheese, salami, coffee, tea, milk, hot milk, cereal, cake. The only thing you absolutely shouldn't take is the juice, because it's simply not worth drinking, you better drink water as it tastes the same as their juice.

Services

The hotel does have wireless internet access, for this you need to go to the lobby, but as said you shouldn't talk too much there. They also have a computer you can use for 15 minutes for free. On the first floor there's a space where you can use your own laptop or phone to surf the internet, whithout being scared for being thrown out.

Conclusion

The hotel was reasonable priced, offered good rooms, good beds and good breakfast, it was clean and taken care of. It's an advisable place to go if you go staying in Vienna, taking into account the value it offers for the price you pay.

Looks more like a prison than a hotel. Holes in the walls of our room certainly added to the effect. Wi-Fi didn't work and when we asked the staff about it they just shrugged and told us to go to an internet cafe (receptionist was particularly rude throughout our stay) "Oh well, at least we get breakfast included" yeah, a mountain of stale bread, crispy cheese and slices of meat my dog would turn his nose up at. It was only 39euro for the night but do yourself a favour and spend a little more to stay somewhere that isn't a s***hole
