We stayed at the Hotel Cyrus from 6-10th August.
The staff could not be more helpful but we were a little disappointed with our room. The room itself was tiny and fitted two single beds and a wardrobe and not alot else! The shower and toilet were in a cubicle, and the basin was in the hallway! (A bit odd) Saying that, the room was clean, and the maid changed our bedding every day except one day in the five we stayed.
Our room faced the main road, and if you don't like traffic noise, forget it!
The road seems to be used as a race track. The noise doesn't bother me at all, but two nights it actually woke me up when I though an F1 car was going past!! (Mad speeds of in excess of 80mph in a built up area) During the day the road is fairly busy, but easy to cross.
The bed were comfortable, but mine had a serious squeak!
The hotel is brilliantly located for seeing the sights. We bought a Vienna card (Although none of the train stations seem to be manned and nobody seemed to pay anywhere!) The card is 18.50 euros, and did us for 72 hours and can be bought in the hotel. The metro stop was literally two mins walk form the hotel. (right out the hotel, first left, first right) Also on this street there was a shopping area which was fairly good. A few bars and fast food places and some good shops.
The metro itself is nothing like the tube here! It's clean, fast, on time and the centre takes about 4 minutes and is four stops (Stephensplatz) on the red line.
The hotel does have the internet, but it didn't work 3 days out of the five we stayed. But it was free when it did work.
Breakfast was basic, but fine. Rolls, bread, cheese and ham. No toaster which would have been nice.
Excursions can be booked at the hotel. We went on two and they were fairly priced and pretty good.
If you compare this hotel to something in England for the same price, ie £49 per night for a travel lodge, I'd rather be in a travel lodge for the facilities (Bigger room, nicer bathroom etc)
All in all a nice stay, clean, but small and very basic.
