This property sells itself as a 4* "garni" (bed and breakfast hotel) - but in essence it should be no more than 3*.
I stayed here for approx 3 weeks on business in Jan 07.
Location:
Excellent. Right beside the train station and underground and 5 minutes walk from one of the main shopping streets. From a location point of view, a very good base for visiting Vienna. Rooms to the street side, despite being double glazed, can be quite loud.
Reception:
Reception staff, while relatively friendly, come across as cold and disinterested. A good example of this is when arriving back from the office in the evening (with laptop bag and jacket) I asked if it would be possible to get an iron/ironing board "sent up". I was asked to hold on for a minute - which I did, and when the receptionist came back, he handed me both iron and board (into my 1 free hand) to literally drag up to the room myself. Despite being there for such a long period, not once did anyone ever greet my by name. This is not good enough at a (self proclaimed) four star level.
Free of charge internet access at 1 PC in the lobby.
Facilities:
I had quite a big room (junior suite I would say). The bed was comfortable, but the top bead spread was badly stained. There was a desk (with internet port), an extra table and chair, and a small couch unit. The bathroom was a normal size and clean (with a bad crack in the sink).
(Charged) tea and coffee facilities are provided. However, on 3 occasions, the used cup/saucer were not cleaned or replaced and simply left as is on the coffee table. Internet speed was OK, but was charged per 30 minutes. Safe is also provided. The TV was tiny (small portable) and there was a problem with the colour settings.
Despite what other people have said in this forum, the hotel does not offer wireless intenet.
Food:
Staff in the breakfast room are efficient and for the most part friendly. A good continental breakfast with, eggs, cheese, meats, cereal, yoghurt, tea coffee and sparkling wine ! Breakfast room is comfortable and nicely decorated. This room doubles as a (kind-of) bar in the evenings, served by reception. However, I never once saw anyone having a drink there. Otherwise in the evenings, no other food available.
