“it's a nice place”

well, I really wanted to write this review after I'd read some negative reviews here on the hotel that I feel a bit unfair, any way this hotel I think is a very nice 3 stars hotel, I know it looks a small one but the the most important advantage here is its location, yes it is definitely very central, very close to the underground and the trams so you can go any where in Vienna so easily and in a short time, also it is important to mention that I'd found the staff so helpful and friendly specially that guy called Youssef in the reception, it is a 3 stars hotel any way but I liked my stay there.

“Bad experience”

The price and the location looked good to us when booking, but what a dissapoinment when we actually entered the hotel...!
The entrance door is a normal door, not with sensors - compared to other 3*** hotels, which is not comfortable to open and to keep open when you have several pieces of luggage.
The reception area is dark and it seems old, not too welcoming.
The elevator is very old and the footworn little carpet from the floor prevented the wheels of our luggage to spin. 2 people with 2 normal 20kg suicases and 2 bags barely fitted in this small elevator.
No electronic cards for room access, but normal keys.
Our room was at the 3rd floor and facing the back of the hotel and a courtyard - you could feel the "fresh" smell from the McDonalds restaurant nearby.
The room and the bathroom looked clean but old, with old furniture.
The TV is very small, you can barely watch it from the bed (and my sight is very good!). Only 7 channels mostly in German, the remote control wasn't working and it was very dirty.
Too pricy for the service and the accommodation they offer, not really a 3*** hotel at all.
We left after a few hours and checked in to another hotel.

“Hotel Mozart, Wien: reasonable value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

This hotel has no great pretensions: it provides decent enough, reasonable accommodation that is clean, comfortable and at a reasonable price. If you are looking for fancy "bells and whistles", then go elsewhere - and be prepared to pay the extra. The location is excellent - less than five minutes to the Friedrichsbrucke U-bahn station which is, itself, no great distance from the centre with very frequent metros running late (and early).

We had no difficulties with reservations (the booking was made via British Airways Holidays so it was an inclusive tour) and the reception staff were perfectly helpful and congenial.

A separate point unrelated to the hotel: if you are travelling to Germany or Austria and you use Visa cards, DO NOT assume that you will be able to withdraw cash from ATMs or that Visa cards will be accepted for transactions. We were lead a merry dance around Vienna trying to find an ATM that would accept our card - transactions were aborted by a couple of ATMs but fortunately we got our card back. The same thing happened in Berlin last March when we were dismissively told by a Deutsche Bank staff member that "No, ve cannot accept zis card...!" as if HSBC issued Visa card was a dodgy card from hick bank from the boonies... Take cash and be prepared to act as if you are dealing with a Third World cash based economy!

“Nice atmosphere”

We stayed for three days in Dec last year. The people at the reception were very polite and friendly and spoke very good English (which is not common for the most part of Europe) and since we don't speak any German that was a great advantage for us. The room was very nice - comfortable beds, nice bathroom, very warm (maybe a little bit too much since during our stay the weather was relatively warm but if it had been cold it would have been an advantage, besides you can always turn down or off the heating). The breakfast was very good too and they let us leave our bags after checking out without any extra charge. The only thing I didn't like was that the liquid soap in the bathroom was diluted with too much water and was too thin.

“Very nice accomodation for a short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2011

Great location - city center within a walking distance. Tram stop is just in front of the hotel, and metro is close too. Breakfast was rich. Rooms are small, that is true. Bed in our room definitely needed a new mattress. But it was tidy. Cleaned regularly. Staff was friendly and helpful. We highly recommend.
