“Good value for money, would recommend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 February 2011

This hotel was clean and the room was very nice. There was no noise from outside or other guests. The room was very hot though and the temperature couldn't be adjusted, which made sleep difficult. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was good, close to train and a 5-10 minute walk to the station. Breakfast at this hotel was fantastic. They had everything that you could possibly want. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel.

“Great hotel, great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2010

We stayed at the Falkensteiner for 2 nights in December. I have nothing bad to say about it. The rooms were clean and warm and there were good amenities for guests. Our room was on the 3rd floor and had a heated bathroom floor which is lovely after you've been walking around in the snow all day!

We found the hotel to be in a good location, the walk to the Museum Quarter is about 10-15 mins and then another 5-10 mins walk on to other sites. It's a pleasant walk straight down one main road so there is no worry about getting lost. We were also provided with a map and list of events happening around Vienna. We found the neighbourhood to be very safe and enjoyed the walk each day.

Due to the snow in London, our flight home was cancelled. We were at the airport when we found out and so I called the Schottenfeld to see if we could go back. Lucily they had a room available and kept it for us. When we arrived back from the airport, Michael on the front desk couldn't have been more helpful. He made sure we were ok and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. He even offered to help us on the phone if we needed to book new flights.

The staff at this hotel are a credit to it. Everyone we encountered was friendly and very helpful and I think this is a big part of what makes it so nice to stay there.

All in all this is a great hotel, that is very good value for money based on the standard of the rooms and the public areas.

“Comfortable and stylish but very good value!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2010

We were greeted warmly on arrival and asked if we wanted to upgrade to a new loft room for Euro 20.00 so we agreed. This was well worth it as the room was lovely: contemporary and extremely clean. Also, when we arrived home the first evening we were given a complimentary bottle of red wine and cheese plate. A really nice touch!
We did not take breakfast as this was not included in the price and we were eager to leave and sightsee each morning. Other guests were enjoying the Euro 15.00 per person breakfast buffet and, to be honest it looked great, served in the funky downstairs dining room area.

This hotel is not super centrally located. We took the U bahn (U3) to the Zieglergasse stop and walked the considerable length of Schottenfeldgasse when we arrived. However, we soon discovered that the Stadthalle/Burggase metro stop U6 is nearer to the hotel. The walk was about 8 minutes. There are also bus and tram stops nearby for the connections into the centre so no problems. As a previous review states, it's well worth staying that little bit outside of the centre to benefit from the very good room rates. With accommodation that is super clean and stylish there's no reason to complain!

“Friendly staff and modern interior”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

I stayed three nights at this hotel and it was a comfortable stay. The rooms are fancy and there's chocolates on the pillows. The staff were very friendly and called me Madam, but they weren't too formal either. The breakfast looked very tempting, but it wasn't included in my booking, so I didn't bother paying extra for it. To get internet in your room, you have to pay by the hour, and that was a bit pricy.
The price for the hotel is cheaper than the other hotels in the area, and a lot more cheaper than the ones in the inner city. The hotel is located in the Neubau district, a trendy district with a lot of young people and close to the largest shopping street, Mariahilfer Strasse. But nearby the hotel itself it is not a lot to see, you have to walk about ten minutes or jump on a bus or a tram for to-three stops to get to the shopping street or to the MusemsQuartier. I would say it is worth it to stay in this nice hotel for a lot less than you pay in the inner city and just walk or use the public transport to get there.

“Just What You Need”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2010

We stayed here between 27-30.08.2010 and after reading the previous comments had some doubts. But eveything was just as it should be. The hotel was very clean, even though there were a couple of groups we never felt crowded. The front office was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was very clean, new, with all you need for a short stay. This hotel made me feel like home with its cozyness and peace. Some people have commented on the location and I need to point out that yes the hotel is not in the heart-heart of the city but its only 15 minutes walk along a lovely road to the Museum Quater, the public transportation is near and easily connected. If I go to Vienna agaI would not look for another accomodation as this was way pleasing...
