The hotel is well located: equal distance from the city centre, train station and shopping street Mariahilferstrasse. Still, if you want to save your feet for better things it's good to buy a transportation card, if you ctay in this hotel.
In general the hotel is OK, but not really ****. They have wellness, bar, etc, BUT the rooms start to look shabby (not very clean walls, floor), someday-white curtains are grey-blue of dust. WC is clean, towels are changed daily.
THE MOST STRANGE THING: WE HAD TO ASK TO CHANGE OUT BED LINEN AFTER 5 NIGHTS there!!! They simply forgot to change the linen!
Breakfast was very nice, variable choise.
In general the place gives an impression of a cheap one. It was included into our trip and we had only this option, but the trip was really a bargain, so I think they give rooms at reduced rices there. Still the room into card for Aug.2011 said that double room is E170, single E210 - not very cheap!

It seems that Falkensteiner Hotel Am Schottenfeld has the most cooperative hotel personnel I have ever dealt with in my life. The reservations team is extremely helpful and prompt. The reception is also very nice!
The Hotel is not very centrally located (takes around 20 mins to Mariaholferstrasse and 45-50 mins walking to Opera), however it is one of the most quiet places I have ever stayed.
The rooms are very spacious and clean. Some items of the furniture appear rather old and shabby which is an unpleasant contrast compared to rather fresh interior of the rooms.
The coffeemaker in my room did not work. But I was disinterested in it so I did not complain.
The layout of the hotel is somewhat confusing and not really comfortable. Depending on the location of the room you may need to walk through some long corridors and event take stairs.
They have very sweet apples in the Reception area, also complimentary coffee with cookies in the morning, and mineral water throughout the day.

I payed 64 euros for standard double room what is a great price (breakfast excl.) Room was cozy and stylish, very very clean. Staff was very polite and friendly. Hotel is 10min walking from metro at Mariahilf. strasse and museum quartier, but you can easily find free parking lot (on weekend free of charge). I will definitely return there

This hotel was clean and the room was very nice. There was no noise from outside or other guests. The room was very hot though and the temperature couldn't be adjusted, which made sleep difficult. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was good, close to train and a 5-10 minute walk to the station. Breakfast at this hotel was fantastic. They had everything that you could possibly want. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel.
