If you are looking for a comfortable and clean hotel to stay for a couple of nights then I would definitely recommend Alla Lenz. My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night as we were travelling through Europe and we were very happy with it. The staff was extremely friendly, the room was very comfortable and clean and the breakfast was satisfying.

There are a few drawbacks however. The hotel is not located right in the centre , but if you don't mind walking for about 15 minutes it's a good way to see the city. You can also take the bus or the metro which are located right next to the hotel. Also, if you are carrying a lot of luggage, you may want to take a cab from the train station - it will cost you about 7-10 euros.

Overall, we were very happy with Alla Lenz and would recommend it to those who are travelling on a budget.

My wife and I stay here whenever we visit Vienna.

The price is great for the location. Breakfast is great. Staff is friendly and competent - it is a family business.

If you stay often enough, you get a discount. They also give a discount if you pay cash. They'll often give you a free upgrade if you are there in the off season.

The place is close to the Westbahnhof and an U-bahn. Hence you've got the sex shops, but also stores, bank. Nice walk to get downtown. You are also close to the main shopping street (Mariahilfe) in Vienna.

The hotel is in need of renovation, but if you complain to the staff about something legit (e.g. AC is leaking, or bathroom smells like mold), they'll upgrade you to a nicer room. They know all the rooms aren't great.

The location isn't hard to find. They have signs on the ring telling you where to turn. Vienna is loaded with lots of small streets that are "hard to find" - that's just how it is.

Whenever we think of staying someplace else in Vienna, we always stay with these guys.

The hotel was difficult to find, and having asked locals and walking for absolutely ages, we finally found it. Amongst out wondering, we discovered plenty of sex shops, and would not recommend staying her with young children.

The men on the reception desk (who I presume are the owners) were not terribly friendly, and did offer a slightly better room if we paid in cash instead of through the credit card we booked through. We would have preferred if they just gave it to us free as it clearly must have been available.

The lift is tiny, and can fit two people with small cases, otherwise take the stairs.

The room was very standard, nothing to write home about, and the bathroom wasn’t great. There was also a broken champagne flute in our room, which when we took to the owners, appeared to accuse us of breaking.

The ‘swimming pool’ was about 6m x 4m and was on the top floor of the next building which looked derelict and possibly never used/cleaned for an unknown amount of time.

The breakfast was minimal, and consisted of 2 types of ham, and a bit cheese. It was something you would expect from a little country bread and beakfast in the United Kingdom as opposed to a 4* hotel in Vienna.

My wife and I stayed at the Alla Lenz in mid April. Our room was probably the most thoughtfully laid out of any hotel room we have had in our extensive travels. It was comfortable, quiet, with good beds but, best of all, was designed for the traveller (unlike many rooms which are either crammed into old buildings or build to fit the designer's trendy ideas). Good breakfast buffet, friendly and helpful personnel and very convenient parking (lift directly to the public parking beside the hotel). Although not in walking distance to the Ring, the Alla Lenz is one block from public transportation both toward the Ring and toward the Gurtel. We would certainly stay there again when we (hopefully) return to Vienna. Excellent value for the money.
